Just worked this one out! When I turn the BL5000 over, 'SHIFT' then 'CONTROL' displays the current time. I suppose I should have guessed this, as CONTROL was the 'new' button.

All other two-way functions are working such as volume and time programming. If I press SHIFT then STATUS it only seems to give/get the STATUS command, hence the screen simply displays the radio station or whatever. Yet the SHIFT button is working fine: SHIFT then RADIO gives A.Aux, for instance.

May have to leave it for now - a new bathroom floor needs laying....

Yes, strange. Are all two-way functions working? Volume level, Timer programming in Stdby mode....?

And what does your BL display, if you press SHIFT - STATUS?

Yes - I'm trying it with my BC9500 - and the remote is set to two way audio, plus the correct time is set. Software version of my remote is 2.2. Strange that it doesn't work!

SHIFT - STATUS should display the clock. Do you have a two-way master, that sends the clock data?

Shift+Status doesn't bring up the clock on my Beolink 5000 (the control button version). Anyone have any ideas how to get the clock, or is the only way to access the Programming function?

Useful when you want to rewind a tape while listening to the radio for example.

Some 2way hifi are not compatible. It won't work on a Beosound2500 for example.

Shift+Status will display the Clock.

The CONTROL button is used for controlling another device whilst another source is playing,

f.e. whilst a cd is playing, press CONTROL + TAPE to be able to control the tape-deck.

(without the Beomaster changing source)

There was four versions of the Beolink 5000 which I am aware of. A Mark I & II for US and a Mark I & II for everyone else.

I have never seen a US version, but you may wish to look at the four digit "Type" number

Type 1534 was a US Mark I

Type 1623 was a US Mark II

Type 1531 was a Mark I for everyone else

Type 1620 was a Mark II for everyone else

Dear all,

I have just replaced my broken Beolink 5000 with an almost new one. However, I noticed that on the back side buttons, instead of the clock button it does have one button named "control". Does anyone know what this is used for?
