Connection Video

Connect the aerial to the aerial input of the TV-set.

Selecting option on the TV-set

Option: OPTION 2, with Beo4

Note!

If the TV is equipped with a Dolby Surround Module, the TV's default
SPEAKER mode will be 3. This has the effect that the speakers of the Avant
will not play stereo.
To avert this, the TV Front Speaker Setup must be set to 'None'.
This is effected via the menus Setup -> Sound -> Speaker.
However, this is not possible on Avant 50Hz with S/W lower than 2.0

In case of interference between the modulator frequency and other
signals in the UHF region, adjust the modulator frequency
from the TV menu. Procedure:
Setup / Tuning / Link Frequency
When you have found the desired frequency, press (GO/PLAY) to save it.
The recommended distance between stations in the UHF region is 16 Mhz.

************************* AUDIO SYSTEM SETUP **************************

Beosystem 2300

Connection Audio

Connect the aerial to the aerial input of the audio master.

When using the remote control mute function, sound is
restored by turning the volume up or down.

Selecting option on the audio master

Option: OPTION 0, with Beo4

Software (S/W) 1.3, order No. 8342804, for Beosystem 2300
supports the Beo4 control, but the timer programming and 2-way IR
have been removed.

********************* AUDIO/VIDEO/LINK SYSTEM SETUP *******************

Connection

A BeoLink Converter is required to be able to connect the video- and
audiomaster, part No. 1161166/1161466

Connect the AUX/TV socket of the audiomaster to the BeoLink
Converter's AUDIO AUX LINK socket using a 7/7-pin DIN cable.

Connect the BeoLink Converter's Master Link socket to the Master Link
socket of the TV-set using a BeoLink cable.

Connect a POWER LINK socket of the audiomaster to the POWER LINK
socket of the BeoLink Converter using a Power Link cable.

Note!

After installation and option programming or after a mains drop-out
an audio source most be selected by means of close-up operation in
order to obtain the correct A/V setup. The setup influences the
A/V RECORD.

Audio sources are not switched off when switching to a video source,
(out of courtesy to any users in local rooms).

Balance, Bass, Treble and Loudness cannot be adjusted on the audio-
master (a remote control terminal has to be used). However, adjustments
will affect a Local Room, if any. Volume adjustments made on the audio-
master can adjust audio sources but a display deviation may occur on
the audiomaster.

Close-up operated audio recording of video sources is not possible
(use a remote control).

No Audio Timer recording from 3-digit program numbers is possible,
e.g. from the Satellite receiver in BeoVision.

In some cases it may be necessary to apply a long standby pressure to
switch off a product.

A record player cannot be connected to the Beosystem when such a
system forms part of an A/V setup.

The recommended remote control is Beo4

The following remote controls may also be used:
Beo5

Setup for Beo4 remote control:

Beo4's "LIST" must contain the following items in order to be able
to operate the Main Room products.

Connection

The aerial signal is distributed to the TV-set in the link room from
the aerial output socket RF OUT on BeoVision in the main room.

Connect the Master Link cable to BeoLink Video's Master Link socket
in the local room.

Connect the TV-set's AUDIO AUX LINK socket to BeoLink Video's
AUX socket using a 7/7-pin DIN cable.

Setting of option in the Link room

BeoVision:
OPTION 6, with Beo4

Note!

The audio master in the main room cannot distribute PC sources, e.g.
N.MUSIC and N.RADIO to the Master Link system.
The PC sources are therefore only local sources in this Link room

It might be necessary to change the frequencies of P.no. 46, 47, 49,
50 of the link room TV to the Avant VTR modulator frequency.

On the Link TV it may be necesseary to modify the frequency
for P. No. 60 to the modulator frequency of the Avant VTR.

The following frequencies is programmed from factory.

V.TAPE 1     599 MHz   P.nr. 49
V.TAPE 2     567 MHz   P.nr. 48
SATELLITE    599 MHz   P.nr. 47
CDV          551 MHz   P.nr. 46
LINK TV      599 MHz   P.nr. 50

The following frequencies is programmed from factory.

V.TAPE 1     P.nr. 60 599 MHz
SATELLITE
LINK TV
CDV

V.TAPE 2 P.nr. 61 567 MHz

The frequencies of the link room TV must be changed as follows:
Press: V.TAPE        Disconnect the AAL cable from the link room TV
Press: TV            Tune the link room TV in to the frequency
                       Store P.no
                       Connect the AAL cable

The frequences of the Link TV are modified as follows:
Press: V.TAPE
Press: MENU          Select Setup / Tuning
                       Tune in the TV-set on the frequency
Press: GO            to store the frequency.

There are no menus on LINK TV-sets from external video sources.
For example the main room's VTR or Satellite.

No audio or video recording in the central room can be initiated from
the local room.

In some cases it may be necessary to apply a long standby pressure
to switch off a product.

So you're saying if I just swap out the Beolink Converter and put a Beolink Video in its place it will work. Is there anything I need to set up on the TV? And, once set, can I just then press 'LINK + V.TAPE' etc on the Link room TV and it will send those commands to the Master Video source (AVANT in this case). How does the Link Room (Zombie) TV then switch to the distributed RF coming from the AVANT modulator (which is currenlty wired in)? Next, has anyone got a Beolink Video for sale, they seem to be like Hen's Teeth, although I just saw one sell on ebay, doh! Also, anyone want a Beolink Converter going spare soon :-)

The Beolink converter works if there is a Hifi on the other side. For a TV you need a Beolink Video. I have one and it works fine.

On the founder member bit, this was at the starting of the site once Steve had sold it. There waqs a considerable amount of set up costs as well as the large amount the site cost. The founder status was granted to those who contributed at the outset to help with this. No money came from the previous incarnation - indeed quite the reverse.

Could it be that I need to be using a Beolink Video box http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=982 instead of the Beolink Converter for the MX? I thought that the Beolink Converter I have (type 1611 sw 1.3) would have done the same job as the former Beolink Video box??

Hi Peter,

Well, I tried option 6, made no difference. So I've gone round and checked all the system devices and cables by using the 'half-split' method of using a good path then swapping in and out variious elements to maybe isolate a hardware fault. So I've done that, both Beoconverters are fine all ML and AAL cables are fine. So I'm back to the start. All the Audio operations work fine on the MX whether I put it in option 2 or 6. To try and activeate the AVANT via the MX I've been pressing either just V.TAPE or then LINK > V.TAPE etc So I'm not sure if the system is set up correctly but I'm just not pressing the right buttons in the right order. So I probably do need the PCG... By the way...

I'm not against the idea of joining as a silver or gold member, just that I was a bit miffed to not have been able to get on the 'founder member' list as I had been using this site as far back as 2002 and did make a £15 contribution back then (before other founder members joined!), After all the changes to the hosting of the site, my account was lost...) I emailed 'Steve' admin but no reply. I'm not going to die in a ditch over it but will have a think about the potential benefits. My 'owners systems' contribution was made in 2003 (Jack USA). But I'm back in UK now, and I have a Beolink, on the Blink still :-)

To access the manuals you need to be a silver or gold member so I am afraid Andy's links are not going to get you there. Try Option 6 first and if not working, let me know. My system is pretty similar so I can play around with mine to check!

OK, sorry, I spotted it, PCG Product Configuration Guide. But can't find it on the site. Does it have all the ML 'How To' for using Beo 4 and / or BL1000. Getting it set up right is the first issue, but I'm a bit of a Multi Room virgin, having only just found, after 10 years of looking, an AAL cable (7 pin) long enough (20m) to bring an upstairs room into the mix. Not sure why I bothered to be honest... as my eldest daughter has a wall mounted BM3000 + CX50s fed by a nano... and I can't hear anything I play over the din from that anyway.

I might be back at the weekend

P.S. In case you're wondering why I didn't think to just get a long ML cable and done this before, well, the cable run is 20m almost as the crow flies, going through walls and floors too, which is easy with a round din plug on the end. Not so easy with the ML square plug. Plus, well, I just couldn't be bothered until now as I've had B&O in every room for years. Except that now, the PC (mp3s) are only connected to the BS2300 and so I want to access that from around the house, plus the AVANT Sky+ feed, naturally.

Thanks for all the replies, Peter I will try the MX options you suggest. I never remembered that there were more options to try other than 1 + 2. My old MX5500 used to respond to options 1,2,4 I think, which made it do funny things. Didn't know about option 5,6 etc.

I will give it a go tonight and report back, thanks. I did suspect that it was a master / slave type issue and likely the MX but no clue how to configure it. By the way, nobody actually said what PCG is... I'll try the link from Andy.

That could well be true - my LX6000 is similar in that case. I cannot run the PCG on my Mac but maybe someone can on a PC.

I haven't had the time to read the whole post, but the MX7000 is a bit special in the sense that it can have 2 options, for example it can be set to option 1+5.

The PCG will tell you which options.

Once when I added a TV in my setup, my dealer changed the setting of my MX7000 TV and it never worked fine for years. It is only when I downloaded the PCG that I could set the right options again!

There is a Masterlink manual on site and I believe it is on the official site as well in which case it is free. If I am wrong, join as a silver member and there are lots of manuals! Andy is right - the Product Configuration guide is well worth trying out as well.

The MX needs to be a slave so you need to set it to Option 6 (Picture, 6, Store) Should work fine with both audio and video commands. You have it set as a master at present.
