If you have anything to say - please tell!</description><dc:language>en</dc:language><generator>CommunityServer 2008 SP2 (Build: 31104.93)</generator><item><title>Which TV should I buy?</title><link>https://archivedforum.beoworld.org:443/forums/thread/142757.aspx</link><pubDate>Fri, 19 Sep 2008 06:30:32 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">41a2a90c-3a1e-4bd3-b144-3883695a7f38:142757</guid><dc:creator>slybynight</dc:creator><slash:comments>0</slash:comments><comments>https://archivedforum.beoworld.org:443/forums/thread/142757.aspx</comments><wfw:commentRss>https://archivedforum.beoworld.org:443/forums/commentrss.aspx?SectionID=13&amp;PostID=142757</wfw:commentRss><description>&lt;p&gt;Hi Folks - first time post here.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Apologies if this is a newbie question asked a million times.&amp;nbsp; I have done a bit of a search of the forum but can not find the answers.&amp;nbsp; Please redirect me if a thread already exists.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;28 years ago my parents bought a B&amp;amp;O TV - it is still their main TV and it is still the best TV I have ever seen or heard.&amp;nbsp; Its has had its guns boosted about 10 times and a new power switch.&amp;nbsp; I have spent the last 10 years trying to convince them to get a new TV so I can inherit this one!&amp;nbsp; No Joy :-(&amp;nbsp; I think they want to be buried with it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Anyway - last night my BUSH tv popped - my son knocked into it and the colour has gone all over the place.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;so I am now in the market for a new TV.&amp;nbsp; Wife convinced of second hand B&amp;amp;O.&amp;nbsp; Ebay search saved and monitored regularly.&amp;nbsp; But which one should I bid on?&amp;nbsp; Not having followed the models and reviews as they came out I am a bit clueless. here are my requirements.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;CRT ONLY - It seems I am not alone in thinking that flatscreen is not all that.&amp;nbsp; I want CRT becauase it has decades of development behind it, will not be going on a wall - so depth dimension is not important.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I will not be doing anything with blueray or HD&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;size has to be above 24&amp;quot; (current bust tv is 20&amp;quot; and too small) personally I think bigger is better but wife may need convincing.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Looks: colour and style not particulary important they all seem to look beautiful anyway, same goes for sound - I&amp;#39;m not a massive audiophile and I&amp;#39;d imagine they all sound a zillion times better than my mono BUSH.&amp;nbsp; (I&amp;#39;m guessing they are all stereo)?&amp;nbsp; I dont really need a rotating stand or curtains or other gagetery - but I have no aversion to them.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Have small children, so stability would be nice - I dont want something that they could squish themselves under!&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I have an ext video and DVD that I would be happy to use - so I&amp;#39;m not really interested in what is integrated into the telly.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Age is not that important as I&amp;#39;m guessing it will be reflected in price and after all....28 years on my parents one. &amp;nbsp; I have a good TV&lt;br /&gt;repairman on hand also to boost tubes etc&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Cost is not really an issue but the fact I am buying second hand gives an indication that I am after a bargain and dont have &amp;quot;NEW TV&amp;quot; money to spend.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I guess what I&amp;#39;m after is something as nice and reliable and sturdy and sexy as my parents TV&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Have big car will collect.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Many thanks in advance&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
