Neat description, Sal. Actually, I find it a nice feature, too, if you insert the control panel the other way in (turning it 180 degrees) you'll notice that the characters displayed on the BS9000 will be 'upside-down', allowing for other placement options to give meaning, indeed. Fantastic - in my own little world!

If you flip open the grated metal portion of the BS9000 which exposes the control panel, on the one short side of the panel, you'll see an indentation (for a finger). The control panel, which is held in place with strong magnets, just pulls off.

I'd suggest firmly pulling up, and you'll notice that, the control panel tilts off the BS9000. When replacing the control panel, make sure that the side toward the center of the Beosound 9000 gets inserted first, there are short "prongs" into which the control panel needs to slide into, and flip back into place.
