Yeah. I sort of read that from somewhere else before. But it is kinda sick that the industry still stick to manufacturing environmental less friendly products when the friendlier version is available. I think OLED screens for tv viewing will still be made into panels though because you will get better contrast and brightness that way.

Saw this at the preview of IFA - had no problems with using my phone next to it!
What is truly impressive is the picture quality- within 3 years we will have sensible priced oled and is a 21" already in the pipeline- it is an absolute leap ahead in picture quality from anything now available. response time is 1000 faster than LCD
Jeez three years. I might have bought quite a few tvs by then. Kinda ridiculous how slow OLED is developing. Remember the time when BV 9 was supposedly OLED?

Its been developing slowly more by manufacturers choice. They choose to 'milk' the market for LCD and recoup what investment they can there.

When oled becomes economoc reality LCD- unless at bargain basement pricing is dead. Im nto sure the rumours were ever correct that the BV9 might be oled- as B&O like to wait for ever to adopt newer technology.

With this new form however it would be rather silly to put it into a huge box like the BV9 when the future is screens that can role up ( on a plastic substrate)

Not quite - I understand the data transfer from the box to the panel is wireless!

Oh my! Then that will be quite a treat for the senses. Are you very sure though? Transmitting HD data wirelessly? Not very possible with the current technology I think. What I like is that Sony is starting to use 120hz panels; I made that out by reading those stamp thing they have on site.

Hi:

This smacks of how LCD TVs were when they first came out - screen with separate TV tuner box. Also WiFi is not the most reliable technology. It would be interesting to see what happens when someone starts using a microwave or cordless phone! Also, what happens if the signal drops off "oh sorry guys that you were watching that crucial point in the football match, please wait patiently whilst I reset the router".

That said, it is very stylish and if they can iron out problems that I perceive they will have, it would be interesting.

Honestly I don't see the point in it. It isn't supposed to be portable, so there isn't much point in making them so thin. I'd understand if it were a thinner bezel, because that adds to the viewing pleasure, but thin, it goes up against a wall.

Flimsy thin and lowest profile ever. Best thing is that it comes with

two versions - TV or pure display monitor.

Power yields 190W only, just beat the hell out of many LCD or plasma this size.

To be launched in Nov 2008
