It was meant humourously. If you cannot recognise this you may have a problem. You are of course free not to find it funny as I have a right to my sense of humour, but it worries me that you could not grasp my intention, but took it soooo seriously and personally.

Enjoy your new toy Sal! The connections weren't an issue for my BV8 in the end. I use the ML and the HDMI for HD movies via PS3. When will all channels on SKY be HD?

Plans have changed... We're going to go with the wall bracket instead... saf made a very good point, and we're going to put our existing furniture to good use...

I didn't give his comment a second thought (though I hope he was joking), my wife sold and repaired Segways. She has a pretty firm grasp on technology, if I do say so myself! (and she like B&O to boot!)

The set would easily look stunning even in different furniture settings (without the dedicated shelf). Though your wife's practical view should no doubt be taken seriously and, even if the two pieces truely seem to be made for each other, consider how connecting a DVD player, a TivoHD and a Wii will effect the resulting visual perception once everything is in place. Lovely set - congrats.

I'm very excited. Traveling to the nearest B&O Store (3hr drive), bringing the wife (of course), to have an official demo of the BV8... Hopefully walking out with a receipt having purchased the television which has gotten some great reviews on this site.
For anyone who hasn't done it, I'd highly recommend it: I scheduled a demo through the official B&O website last night, and promptly this morning, I received a phonecall from the specified B&O store, at which point I had a nice chat with the sales representative. The owner will be in the store tomorrow, so it may be an even better experience to deal with making a sale.
The rep was extoling the virtues of the BV7, even though I had made an appt. to view the BV8 (I understand the value of the upsell), but the wife acceptance factor is a major variable to consider, at which point he humorously pointed out that most women seem to like the BV7 better... Well, I'll have to ask them to hide the pricetags tomorrow if I were to walk out with a BV7.
Oh well... I'll keep everyone posted... My post signature may come true in the next few days.

I have the BV8. Very satisfied, no problems - and as you say, with the proper source, the image is brilliant.

Yes congrats! The Beovision 8 is such a little beauty. The unit has a tactile warmth and is one of the less austere TV in B&O current's line up. It also doesn't dominate a space, which is something I've always preferred.

Though the waiting part seems to be a bain in a B&O owner's life (well that and choosing the right colour).

I am waiting until the BV8 will be fitted with a DD/DTS module; then this will be the perfect telly for me as well.

Congrats! You won't regret the BV8 - even with the lack of inputs. I, too, am stunned by the picture quality. Like other TVs, though, it's very dependent on the video source. However, I find myself now being somewhat of a snob when looking at other flat panels that friends have. Even though the BV8 is arguably a smallish LCD, B&O has really found a way to make that Sharp LCD panel shine IMHO.

Congrats on your purchase. I have mine for a few month now and am still in love with it. Plastic indeed is very nice to touch and luxurious, matches the Bl3 that I have next to it.

Oops, another observation which I neglected to mention: The "Bang & Olufsen" lettering on the speakers is almost invisible unless standing at a specific angle to the television. I'd venture to say that it's almost imperceptible until really close inspection... Admittedly, I feel a bit silly at going overboard at criticizing it when the first pictures were released.

I'm even more convinced now to wait to formulate opinion about products (esp. B&O) until I have seen them in the flesh.
