This method works great too on M150 speaker grills. The plastic pegs holding the grill in place are prone to snapping off. You can get a pretty professional look depending on how much time you put into it. (ie clap the part in a vice and file away at it to get the original contour etc....)

I've repaired broken tabs/lugs before. It's a bit of an art but can be done with a little creativity. The process is as such:

1) Trace your old / broken off lug onto a piece of paper. Typically they look like a "spade" of some sort.

2) Get a medium to heavy gauge paper clip, and unwind it. Using a small pair of needle nosed pliers carefully bend the wire into the shape of the broken lug comparing with the trace for proper size.

3) Cut off the excess wire to the proper length.

4) Use an appropriate sized drill bit and a dremel moto-tool, carefully drill two holes into the cover of the panel where the tab broke off. BECAREFUL NOT TO GO THROUGH!

5) Use epoxy to glue the replacement tab into place. You can fill the voids in the new part with epoxy if you want to give it a molded plastic look.

6) Before epoxy completely cures use a share razor blade to trim off the excess. You should be able to get it to look very good. You can then leave it as is or color match it with a marker.

Of course if you can get the replacement door this would be the easiest way.

I have the same problem with one of my Penta III's. I bought a plastic catch mech but unfortunatley the lug on the actual flap door that goes into the catch is broken and the catch can't ermm catch. When I've collected them from Nobby (Hi Neil - left a message!) I'll ~~bodge~~ somehow repair it.

The plastic catch mechanism is still available from B&O as far as I am aware, at least it was 2 years ago. Bit of a pain to replace though!

The amplifier flap on my Beolab Penta III will not stay closed.

Does anybody if this is a big operation to fix that ?
