Hi Peter, i should of explained better. I mean the passive ABRs on the speaker that doesnt produce the bass dont move at all really compared to the speaker that is fine, the passive abrs on the fine speaker vibrate. On the speaker in question they hardly move.

I have set them to "free" with no difference on the "faulty" speaker...

The side units are passive ABRs so don't move so much normally.

Just some extra info for you guys: On the speaker that doesnt produce as much bass as the other the two side "bits" which look like speakers but arent dont seem to vibrate nearly as much as the other speaker does....off the top of my head it would seem an amplifier problem within the beolab 3?

I will contact my dealer and see what they say.

Hi again Alex, yes i have tried the switch to "corner" etc, i can notice a difference but the low range still isnt coming out... i will take them to my dealer in Cambridge i think. The other speaker works fine and i can tell that as a pair they would "blow me away" very good speakers, well the one thats working that is!

Cheers for your help on the cable matter, i managed to find the right cable on ebay, after searching for nearly two days! haha, oh well, it can be my project to get the other one "working" thanks.

Hi Peter, no i just plugged rca plugs into the pre out of my Rotel ra-02. I will take them to my dealer in Cambridge, see what is going on inside them etc.

Check the positions switches. These affect the bass response of the speakers. If you set the switch to 'Corner', the speaker will produce less bass, wheras if you set the switch to 'Free', the speaker will produce as much bass as it can.

Hi Peter, i can feel them moving (each side) gently not as much as the other speaker, its as if the "oomph" is missing from this speaker.

I have set them to the 3 different settings, wall, free etc but no joy.

When i pan the sound from one speaker to the other i can clearly hear there is no bass being produced, its kind of tin like, with the tweeters working.

I can confirm the bass unit does move but no as much as the other or how it should, hope this helps mate. Cheers.

Difficult to say but I doubt it is not working at all so may just need adjusting. Can you feel the bass units moving?

Hi there, i should have mentioned im running them on "line" the right speaker is perfect and the left i have changed around etc but no joy...

how much do you think it would be to fix, i mean the high ranges from the tweeter are fine, just the low range,.

I take it that it is the speaker? You have switched the speaker input from right to left to check it is not the amplifier? If it is the speaker, it is a fault and get a dealer to look at it.

Hi, i was given these Beolab 3's for nothing, found the right wires and wired them up to my rotel ra-02 amp via the pre out. They souns fantastic, the only thing i notice is the left speaker is having trouble with the low notes. The right speaker handles the bass perfectly. Is it because of the positioning and they are deliberatly not bass when it "senses" etc? Or is it a fault? Thanks!
