Try turning of the 230v(power) for the Avant. Wait a few minutes and then turn it on again. This little thing could fix your problem.

If I remember well, there's a scart connection at the back that links the VCR to the TV.

Have a look if one of these scarts came loose (without being totally disconnected).

Think I've had that problem before and that was the trick then;

Normally the pink line comes up if you press play on the VCR without a video on it (well my Mk 1 Avant does)

I have an Avant VCR and it usually works fine. Now all I get is a hot pink line across the screen. I have had this before and fixed it myself but cannot for the life of me remember what I did (it was several years ago!)Anyone any ideas?
