There was a thread on Beoworld a long time ago where someone put the insides of a Tivo box in one. Was going to do one myself with a cheap freeview box just never got around to it.

I just had a look at dba.dk and that LM sat module I saw a long time ago is still for sale. Price 10£ and it's in Struer of all places. When I get paid I'm going to get it if it's still there.

I used to use the LM in my LX4500. (The motorised satellite positioner was a great toy!) I am pretty sure I had it linked to a D2MAC decoder. Whether that was digital, or just an unscrambler for analog, I can't remember. I also had a manually switchable device to step up to a higher frequency than the LM could reach, and almost doubled the available channels! Still have it somewhere.
There are still many analog signals floating about,if you could flit netween different satellites instead of just Astra, I bet you could find more than 100 channels, maybe much more.

I'm not quite sure if we do have any analogue chanels in Greece. Any hints how to find out?

Yes LM sat you are right. I got no use for German channels but I would like to get one for the LX5500. I think one has been installed before as the whole in the back is there.

How difficult is the expantion to do? Must the LM sat be installed first?

What reciver and how will it work with digital tv?

The Beosat RX is a stand alone sat receiver. What you are talking about, is a LM Sat controller built inside a LX5500 or MX5500/6000/7000.

And yes, i still use the LM Sat with an MX5500 every day, it works great and there a still 35 analog german channels, more than enough :)

The Beosat RX is still not useless, it can be modified. Originally it uses 2 antenna wires, a horizontal and vertical wire. But it can be modified to a single wire system, 14/18V switch for H/V switching. I use ist still on a MX5000, the only thing is, it has only 32 channels memory.

And: both can be expanded with a digital receiver, using a special cable. The Beosat works then as a third AV-Port.

A standard BeoSat is great for wonky tables, keeping doors open - or throwing at intruders.

However... i am sure i heard of someone converting one and changing the insides to a modern freeview box!

I just went by the local B&O shop and they had an LX5500 identical to mine. It had the RX module fitted. I asked about the price and if the RX module were to any use. No was the answer.

Price with electric stand 318£.

I asked this question before here on Beoworld as there was such a module for sale that could be installed in my LX5500. As far as I understand it is only used for analog signals so therefore not useable anymore.

Would be great if could still be used though.

Could Beosat RX be of any use nowadays or would that be completely useless?

Additionally does anyone have any experience with any Sat rx that does not require an STBC?
