MKIV is due May 2009 3 main alterations, 100Hz, Blueray and AST module. I have been given a pretty good trade in price for MKII and discount for MKIII and free blueray upgrade when it is available, is it worth it or shall i wait until may? is there a significant difference between 50 and 100Hz and is AST a big deal?

Not sure what Pioneer plasma you had but first advice would be to spend some time watching a BV7, particularly with the sources you watch the most . there are many reasons why one would buy B&O - for LCD quality do look at the soon to be released pioneer LCD- not cheap but class leading- if you have decided LCD is what you want.

Well in a way your friend is correct about 1080 full HD. If your watching BR it helps but for an SD source- probably not.

The thing that concerns me the most is that the chassis in the MK11 has very linited connection possibilities and that fact that B&O is slow to adopt newer technology acts against the purchaser in the case of LCD -you cant upgrade it.

Lets not get into the HD audio thing!

I suppose it down to price- if its cheap enough easy to justify the cost and upgrade it later!

Get the MKIII if you want to watch Blu-ray movies in 'all their glory' and want to be able to decode* HD audio as only the MKIII can handle this.

However, if you can get a seriously good discount from a MKII, get this plus the excellent 7.2 and then upgrade to the BV7-40 MKIV which should be out in 2009.

*decoding is debatable - see other forum discussion.

Hi everyone, and thank you so much for reading my first post and maybe replying!

I grew up with B&O, but has since wandered around this and that ending up with a complete lineup of Pioneer plasma and audio, as well as Canton Vento speakers. Now everything is thrown overboard, and I am back to B&O. A good friend is selling his Beovision 7-40 but not the full HD one. And that is where I am about to have an issue.

My friend knows about these things, as do I. His opinion (of course - being the seller) is that one should not exadurate the importantness of a Full HD screen compared to the one that is not. Also, as a Blu-Ray replacement is likely to show up as a DVD replacement I figure that the sound decoding is perhaps somewhat important. The MKIII with it's Beosystem 3 module decodes a few more formats as I understand it. Furthermore the one my friend sells is not upgradeable? Can anyone confirm this?

The issue here, money aside, is if I make a nice buy on an older Beovision 7-40, or if it should be a "hands-off" compared to the new full HD one. My worry is that I will regret it if I buy the "lesser" one.

Finally - he is selling with the 7-2 loudspeaker. I was thinking of buying a pair of Beolab 1's as well to go alongside it. Is that a complete overkill or just a nice setup?
