Could have guessed the growing markets, but I would be interested to know which markets have suffered most.

If i could liken B&O to anything, it would be a huge Oil Tanker in the shipping lane. Once you have it moving forward at a decent pace, you can sit back and relax, just making sure it's going straight. However, once you lose speed it takes a long time to get it back again - and turning it around is a military operation!

I love the word 'challenging' instead of 'rubbish' when it comes to describing trading conditions.

The budget for BeoWorld is so big it's been renamed 'operating costs' in the report.

Well, no real shocks - it's just a necessary statement telling us what we already know. If i were Mr Nielsen, i would be very excited and petrified - in equal measure. Beats a strong cup of coffee any day..

One thing we should all actually bear in mind is, Bang & Olufsen are making a PROFIT. How many huge companies are making huge losses these days?

The financial statement 2007/08 in brief:

-Group gross margin was 46,2% against 46,6 in 2006/07.

-decline in total turnover. Danish Kroner DKK 4,092 million in 2007/08. (Was DKK 4,376 million in 2006/07)

-operating profit totalled DKK 195 million against DKK 530, while result before tax was DKK 154 million against DKK 524 million

-The Group’s fastest growing geographical markets were Expansion Markets, Middle East and Asia

Pacific at DKK 71 million. Among Expansion Markets, particularly Russia has excelled with an increase of

DKK 28 million. European markets such as Switzerland and France also showed growth.

-The Board of Directors expects the result for 2008/09 will be on or above the level for 2007/08 based on

an expected lower turnover than in the 2007/08 financial year.

- Activities within the product development area continue to increase. Development costs amounted to

DKK 546 million against DKK 459 million last year, an increase of DKK 87 million. DKK 51 million is

attributable to the change in the net effect of capitalisation. The net effect of capitalisation of

development costs was negative at DKK 16 million. Last year, the net effect was positive at DKK 35

million.

-Bang & Olufsen Automotive’s turnover for the financial year was DKK 123 million against DKK 87

million last year, equating to an advance of 41 per cent.

What is your opinion? (I see no budget for Beoworld...)
