I was working on it yesterday and think I found the capacitor It's mounted in line with a resistor and the spec is 16v 33uF and it looked like this one had it's days...

How important is the brand of the capacitor? The one on the PCB is a Philips. What do you use?

Should it be a bipolar? Is that of any importance?

C2103 is on the servo board which is attached to the bottom of the CD mechanism. It is a 33uF electrolytic. There are a couple of other electrolytics on the board and it is worth changing those as well.

It is difficult to find 33uF nowadays so I use 47 with success.

The BC9500 service manual is on site and the servo pcb is identical on that model.

Thanks Graham for your replay. I tried to find a service manual for the 9000 but it seems to be missing.

I have also done some search but I can't find so much information about the 9000 CD-issue.

Do you know where I can find more information about the c2103 location on PCB etc?

It is more than likely that an ordinary B&O service centre will pronounce your 9000 unserviceable. You should try to find someone who is used to repairing vintage B&O who will be familiar with the well publicised fixes for 9000 CD problems.

I am afraid that new cd drives are no longer available. You could try cleaning the laser lens but I am pretty sure that the problem will be some dried out capacitors on the cd servo board, in particul;ar C2103.

There have been a number of threads on the forum and a search will reveal the info you require.

Please give me some ideas of what could be wrong with the CD-drive on a BC9000.

When putting in a CD and press CD or LOAD the door closes and it spins up for a second. Then it stops and the door opens.

Any clues? Does the CD-drive needs to be replaced? Is a spare still available?
