My thoughts entirely, surely both amps wouldn't have the same fault and even if there was a problem they should light up red or yellow if there was a problem.

Over the weekend I swaped them for my Beolab 8000, which will be my front speakers and they work, so I can assume the powerlink cables are ok and there is power, trouble is the Pentas are such big beasts to take to the shop, unless I dismantle the amps off of the bottom - and that will cost an arm and a leg.

ho hum, whatever at least I will have a decent set of speakers at the end of it.

Any other ideas - are there fuses inside the grey bit?

Can't see the same problem happening to both speakers! Sounds like a fuse in the plug or some other fault in your mains.
If there was a fault in the amps, shouldn't the light glow amber?

Hi Gary,

Stupid question, but maybe the cable that is plugged between your BeoVision and the 1st Penta has a fault ? (anyway the red light should always glow... )

If you don't want to take the whole towers to the menders you could always remove the amps and just take them. Simple job and only requires a 7mm deep socket or box spanner or possibly just a good pair of long nosed pliers.

Hmmm strange, my thought's entirely...

Now if I were designing them I would have made sure that one of the sliding switches in the amp was an on/off switch as well. Then again if i was designing them they wouldn't be the flagship speaker they were or as sought after as they are.

Now Anxiety really has set in :(

Has any member had this problem before? They don't look as if they have had a hard life in the past, though outward appearances can be deceptive

The red light should glow when mains is on. If not you have a problem. Fuses in the mains plugs?

There is no "off" switch. It would seem strange if neither red light is on.

Hi Beopeeps

Sorry this is going to sound like a real thick question, but to save myself a week of anxiety not to mention the risk of damage taking these to the menders, but I was so lucky to secure myself a set of mark 3 Beo Lab Pentas and they do look the business!

However, I was so busy at the weekend I didn't give myself a chance to plumb them in properly, so rather hurriedly before I had to rush out of the door again yesterday afternoon I plugged them into the back of the TV and ran powerlink cables to one and then the other switched them to 'video' turned everything off then powered up the pentas from the switch at the socket and nothing happened. I was expecting the light in the amp to come on and glow red until the TV was turned on then it would turn green and they would fire up into life. Nothing.. No lights, nothing.

Are they broken or is there a secret moulded hidden on off switch I have missed?

If they are broke what is it likely to be?
