With the discount and a trade-in, it starts representing better value. However, I don't think it ships with a Freeview module, which is almost criminal for shipping a TV in the UK.

Just anounced that after a lenghty delay, the Freeview module for BeoVision8 is just about ready AND the price has plummeted. It should sell for about £50 in the UK. The only trouble is that supply will be very limited until 2009.

have a look at the new pioneer LCD- the nearest to plasma performance I have seen- fat better image quality than a BV8!

Wait until they release a BV8 with Freeview tuner.

Otherwise in a year she can't watch TV!!!

What particulart attracted her was the screen brightness/contrast adjusting with the ambient light as her lounge get very bright in the afternoon when the sun is out.

Don't overlook the last of B&O's CRT TV's. With a Beovision 3 - 32 or Avant 32 the sound and picture quality will be better than the Beovision 8 and the automatic light settings are standard.

The downside is their bulk, but in a corner that perhaps would not be a problem.

That is a tough one.

I bought the BV 8. I wanted something decent looking, good sound, that integrates with my existing B&O.

It has a very good speaker and is in my opinion a very good 720P panel. Is it worth the additional money if you don't care about the looks and workmanship and do not have existing B&O? I am not sure. Do you buy a 20 year old Balsamico or do you go for 30?

I love mine, it looks like it belongs into my place which a Sony would not.

1. The built-in speaker sound is amazing. Solid B & O. It out rivals anything built-in to a Plasma or LCD in the 32 inch market.

2. It is easy to use (once you have it set-up) with either the Beo 4 or Beo 5 remote.

3. You can Master Link it to other rooms, and other B&O systems.

4. In addition to DVD, SAT, HD, etc, you can also ML link it to use as a PC Screen, and play N. RADIO, and N.MUSIC through it remotely.

Hi, please be gentle - my first post.

My mother is thinking of buying the Beovision 8 for the princely sum of £2000, that's £500 off for part exchaging her old B&O set. I will add that it would be used as a stand alone item rather than be part of a system.

As other manufacturers sell 32" LCD's for around £600 can someone tell what makes the Beovision worth the extra £1400?
