I wonder what kind of response I'll get - I guess it depends on whether the idea is to create a closed shop, or to prevent people doing themselves harm. I recently found that some parts suppliers now insist that you are a member of a trade body, presumably for similar reasons.

I certainly would not want to pay a certified technician to do the job of fitting these items, when I can do them myself. In the case of a LOPT, if B&amp;amp;O won&amp;#39;t supply it, then I&amp;#39;ll have to use a 3rd party product, which may therefore reduce the overall &amp;quot;safety&amp;quot; of the TV.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The logical next question, then, is how does one become certified by B&amp;amp;O as a suitable person? If so, I may develop a sudden loss of interest in B&amp;O equipment.

For those of us who are probably more highly qualified to handle electronics than your average technician, this would also be an insulting restriction.
