Took it into my flat and plugged it in. All worked fine.

Seems B&O cd players like to be taken out in the car now and again!

Re: beocenter 8500 cd not reading.

Hi

Nice that it's working again. I was trying to play CD on it for days and when in front of engineer it just started working and it has been playing normally since then. Maybe it's scared to be gutted or maybe it was shaken up into place during the trip to the service center. Anyway lucky me that i didn;t have to pay for hefty repair or it might not be repairable at all.

I got away with it this time. Hope everyone else is lucky too.

Re: beocenter 8500 cd not reading.

It's a myth that isopropanol leaves no deposit! Try cleaning a dime sized spot on your kitchen window, it will leave a cloudy mark!
If this is the case, a dry bud will rectify the problem.
I have never heard of it damaging plastics though, I have cleaned loads of Beo4 screens, and never had a problem.

Re: beocenter 8500 cd not reading.

Hi

Sorry to say, but you might have damaged the lens. Just clean lenses with a dry cotton tip, never use alcoholics or any strong solutions. This can damage the plastic lens beyond repair. Take a look at your lens at a close distance to see if it's still glass clear.

/Fredrik

beocenter 8500 cd not reading.

HI !

I got a Beocenter 8500 and it worked fine but it got a bit dusty so i cleaned the CD lens with isopropyl alcohol on cotton tips.
