Project make a good product IMO, I have a Debut III which I use with my BS3000. Also use one of their pre amps too.

The Project RPM6 and RPM9 are both fantastic decks and would suit your needs. The RPM 6.1SB is generally around £550 or thereabouts.

One of the later Beosystems in white could be a decent option, the design will have dated less than many designs from that period. He could then add some modern B&O active speakers such as a pair of Lab 4000's.

The good thing about a lot of these style of turntables is that they use a universal style cartridge mount so you could always start of with a cheap cartridge and upgrade it when funds allow!

If you are looking for a decent secondhand turntable I recommend contacting Walrus Systems in London a call....they usually have a range of secondhand turntables available!

Yes, they are around that price I believe. Dread to think how much a cartridge is.

Yes like those but they look slightly more complicated than the other ones I have seen. I gather those ones are a couple of grand each at least?

Graham do you mean these type Turntables? If so, all I can say is they are very expensive new and I would think they tend to hold their price used too.

Hi all:

My father has put away his turntable and dismantled his old HiFi seperates/speakers from the 80s because they do not go with modern decoration.

I would get him a B&O turntable but think we/he will be faced with the same problem. I would therefore like to get him one of those ones that has a stone/stone looking base and just the tone arm. You know, like a circular chopping board but thicker. I am not really into vynl myslef and I only saw one recently in a branch of Seven Oaks. I guess that a number of high-end manufacturers make them but I was wondering if anyone has any ball park figures for these either new and/or second life and whether they are any good?
