Type 8420 is an AVANT 32" Mark II/III for Northern Europe first sold in 1998 and last sold in 2001

Than it's not realy old, so I can buy this baby. Looks much better than any LCD in my eyes and the sound is amazing! :-)

The avant you ask about seems to be a 32", curved screen - the serial number suggests its a later variant - from 2001 -

I've tried to find the FAQ on dating serial numbers without luck. Can anyone spread some light on my BV3 age?

Hi:

In the case of the Avant its conception date is 1994 and that is what the Roman numerals "translate" to. I don't know if this date is used for the whole range or if there is a different date for the RF, DVD and 100hz variants.

That's interesting. I'd always assumed it was the date of manufacture. Can anyone else confirm this?

Is the date on the back 1996, or something else?
