I have seen an Avant stand disassembled in detail as I had a similar problem: the tv would not react to STAND 0,1 and 2 commands, but would react to STAND, left/right arrow though kind of struggling when turning. This happened after the tv was moved (when we moved to a new place), indeed.

So it might be a little plastic part (picture enclosed) got demaged and needs to be exchanged which is no problem at all.

On the pic you can see there are two dents visible on the circularly shaped part of the component: they should not be there, instead there should be two symetrical protrusions obviously chipped off ...

I'm trouble shooting my Avant this week. We just put a new chassis in to solve the component "pink" picture problem. However the new chassis seems faulty and having even more problems as well. On friday the tech is coming back to determine if it is software or hardware. All that said, the Avant just began having problems with the turning of the stand. Since installing the new chassis the new stand has begun making alot of noise when trying to turn. Often it can turn in one direction but not the other if it turns at all.

It sounds like a mechanical problem and could simply be a coincidence that it just began when we installed the new chassis (Exaspirated by the moving of the TV to access the back?) However, what are the chances that the chassis could affect the performance of the stand? Does it control voltage or anything? If it does turn out to be mechanical what about serviceability to the stand? The service tech seemed a little intimidated but what is the practicality of trouble shooting a stand on site? Are there gears/belts or anything that can become mis-aligned or congested?
