If the set is in good condition you should not have any issues with it. Be aware though that some 5500s are two-way IR though and will be a pain programming without a BL5000 or 7000. Day-to-day operation with a Beo4 or 1000 won't be a problem.

just bought 2 of these for peanuts - i am well pleased with the performance - however this is a comparison with an early 40cm lg set now some 7 years old!

points to watch - foam rot on speakers - both mine had this problem however easy to repair / replace with rings from Goodhifi(see ebay) less than 10-12€

i use a beolink1000 so no idea of beo 4 controller

Hi,

I'm considering to buy a Beovision MX5500. I'm intrested on comments about it's picture and sound quality. I have an Avant, so I guess they are not exactly in same league, but this on would come to my freetime home.

Could this set be controlled with Beo4?

Anything special to be aware of? I read that there is some series of MX5500 with an other chassis than B&O. How do I tell the difference?
