I've tested SD DVDs through my internal BV7 DVD player and the PS3 and there's no difference from what I can see (I did a few comparison tests to see which upscaled more effectively).

The PS3 or any current blue ray player does not upscale as well as a good quality upscaling SD dvd player. Only the upcomming new pioneer promises that it might be a machine capable of playing both formats to a high quality. One reason why the new panasonic BD30/50 was scrapped so soon was because of this issue and the Sony SDP300 is another example of an awful sd dvd pl;ayer

We are not talking high quality upscaling dvd player thats already built into the BV7 so difficult to make valid test, Not for nothing do indviduals who buy high end AV have a dedictaed blue ray and a standalone

355f, you have to buy the Beomaster 5 - which has WiFi - connect to your TV and auto-download the new Blu-ray player updates.

Simple.

That's a lot more than a PS3, so I'm not sure it's worth paying £400 - in addition to my PS3 - to watch a Blu-ray movie?

very interesting this new BR player. Profile 2 compliant? updates via web? how good does it play standard dvd?

With SW 4.3 or higher, let's hope!

looks interesting

our avant is starting to look a tad old fashioned with all the new gear using hdmi etc , so i would have thought the natural progression is towards a 7/40

seems to be the best set bno currently make , doesn't it ?

a 7/40 with 100hz / 24p and blu ray would be a dream come true

and at c. £6k it's not bad value when you figure in how integrated it all is compared to a sony or pioneer and all the ugly add on kit you'd need to get to the same spec

Presumably still being sold at a profit,the HDDVD version of Batman Begins is on sale for £5 (Amazon UK) compared to £12 for the Blu-ray version(AxelMusic).

It begs the question,now that the competition from HDDVD has been eliminated,what incentive is there to produce Blu-ray discs at more affordable prices?
