We do not have the RCA connections, only DVI that has an adapter attached so that the STB HDMI can be plugged in to the BV5, 3x SCART, 2x coaxial input, one of which is used by the STB( optical out of STB to a converter box to co axial cable into coaxial input).

Does the BV5 have HD component connections. This is how we have an X-box360 connecterd to an HD Samsung LCD, the connections look like RCA connections similar to the White/Red/Yellow ones. They should be Red/Red/White/Blue and Green from memory. just tried to check but can't get to the back of the TV at present.

Thanks for your reply.

I can only think my available connections are different to yours?

The xbox HDMI cable runs from the HDMI socket on the xbox into a HDMI/DVI adaptor at the BV5 and gives good picture but no sound so I guess, at least the xbox video output is set correctly.

If I connect the large plug into the AV socket next to the HDMI socket on the xbox I can plug the red/white/yellow plugs on the other end of the cable into a scart socket on the BV5 and have sound but no picture.

I've tried plugging the red/green/blue plugs into another scart but despite configuring the connections on the setup screen of the BV5 and selecting the corresponding remote control option I cannot get a picture.

I don't have individual red/green/blue sockets on the BV5.

If I plug the large plug into the AV socket next to the HDMI socket on the xbox then there is no space to also insert the HDMI plug.

I don't have an s video cable to try at this time.

Am I misunderstanding your advice or do I need different plugs?

I have had an Xbox 360 attached to an Avant/US since December. Naturally the Avant/US is somewhat different from the EU versions of the BV-5 (although essentially identical to one another here.) Initially I went RGB video out to the HD input, with all audio connections made to the STB input. I had no trouble with getting audio and video, once I had the connections made and the settings on the Xbox 360 sorted out.

One thing you absolutely MUST do, here in the US, is set the 360's video output to either 480p(Avant) or 1080i(BV-5) ONLY! You must not let the 360 flip around or auto-select. Lock it down. This will be a bit tricky, since you can't easily see what you're doing on screen while making the adjustments. As for audio, I rand optical S/P-DIF, set the 360 for Dolby Digital 5.1 and was off!

Finally, when I added the AppleTV to the system, the 360 went back to S-video, and really, it's very hard to tell the difference!

I'm trying to use this combination but cannot make the right connections between the two to have picture and sound, is anyone using this setup?
