It turns out that "EPROM" Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory needed to be replaced. Since then I haven't had any problem with red flashing light on the lab'5.

Hope that helps.

Re: BeoLab 5 SW verions

I wouldn't think so - the BL5 has a digital input, makes extensive use of DSP (incl. calibration procedure) and the Class D amps are, I believe, digital input) - i.e. there's an awful lot of stuff happening to the actual signal in the digital domain.

The Class D bass amp of the BL9 is analogue input and functions as a "dumb" amplifier.

Re: BeoLab 5 SW verions

sw updates for speakers? They have SW 1.xx
The newer ones ( with pin-code) have SW 2.xx. So the latest SW should be 1.61a. My BL5s were updated with this one and to answer your question, I have NO problems with these speakers.

Stefan

Re: BeoLab 5 SW verions

A very warm welcome to Beoworld..

The latest software version is 2.61a.

There have been 3 major software updates since your version 1.6.

To get the software updated, your dealer will connect his laptop to the Beolab 5's and upload it using a software service tool.

BeoLab 5 SW verions

Can anyone please advise what the latest SW version is applicable to BeoLab 5. I have SW1.6 and during high bass experience intermittent overload (red flashing/shutdown). My local Australian B&O Dealer says it's got something to do with the SW version and a resistor that needs replacing? My BeoLab 5's were purchased in 2003, I'd be keen to hear what other known problems they have had in your experienceMany thanksMorné
