The kits cost around £50 to £70 in the UK from your B&O dealer plus a fitting charge if needed.

I use them in the UK, the sets are from the US.

I have seen fw version 2.x been mentioned in forums.
A couple questions, it is worthwhile to get them upgraded and is it possible and needed to get them upgraded to a UK version of the fw?
I have seen a post mentioning that all elements in a beoline 6000 config have to be on the same firmware level. Howcan I determine the basestation fw level and can the fw in a base station be upgraded too?
Are there differences in handling caller ID function in different countries i.e. is part of the country specific fw need to do with the difference in caller id handling per country.

You can purchase an upgrade kit part number 3455103 which consists of a new board and display, new front panel and two connecting pieces. Most dealers do not know about these kits, hence why you will need the part number. In fact everything you can see below is in the kit plus an speaker not shown:-

You will also need a tool to open the unit, but with considerable care it can be opened with other tools. There are NO instructions with the kit except for a message to say that all parts must be used. The reason it says this is because some people may not used the two items in the plastic bags which look like a piece of cut off black and white plastic, but they are actually made of rubber with metal conductors inside and MUST replace the existing ones.

The upgraded unit will still work with your triangle base station/charger provided the software is at at least version 1.9

Thanks very much for the quick and extensive reply.

The Caller ID function seems to work fine, for both the 1200 answer machine and the phones. (Both US versions).

By "updated Mark I', do you means a fw updated or does it also need an update of hardware components? If so what are the costs for that?

How can I see what version FW I have in the base station/charger?

I used the "dot" 70001 to retrieve the handset fw version.

Peter,

Firstly, a very warm welcome to Beoworld..

As your three Mark I Beocom 6000 are working correctly, then there is little benefit from a general user viewpoint unless you wish to use the hands free option.

There is in fact three (3) versions of the Beocom 6000:-

A Mark I version
An updated Mark I version which provides all the functions of the Mark II including the same software, EXCEPT it does NOT have the earset socket and needs to be charged on a Mark I charger.
A Mark II version

The key differences between a Mark I and Mark II are:-

CLI (Caller Line Identification) works in all locations where available, there are some issues with the Mark I on some exchanges
The Menu is much more user friendly.
The internal intercom feature is easier to use (my view)
The conferencing facility
Display is in upper and lower case text
8 different ring tones
Also different software can be loaded for different countries

Also, if you get a fault on the internal module, you cannot have it replaced, it must be upgraded with a B&O upgrade kit.

Now Andy (Jandyt) will also say that the Mark 1 has over the Mark 2 which nobody seems to notice is the gradually increasing ring tone that wakes you up gently instead of catapulting you out of bed!

With regards to CLI (Caller Line Identification) provided you have paid for this service from your telecom's provider then it works in most countries, however there will be problems on some older exchanges and through some providers. Even in the UK using a UK purchased Beocom 6000 in some areas CLI may not work or not work correctly, particular if the phone line is also used with ADSL (broadband).

As well as the firmware in the Beocom 6000 phones there is also firmware in the base which actually is the more important part to be concerned about when talking about CLI. The Beocom 6000 phones can be at different software versions without problems.
