Hey Steve,

I'd probably just look out for a used CD5500. Most agree it's a better deck, and it will still match the look of your system perfectly. By the way, it seems like you've posted problems for many of your components. Does your system as a whole work?

I sent the deck to a guy recommended by this forum and he said unusually he thinks it's the laser.

He has one or two final checks to complete, but at this stage he say's the prognosis isn't looking good.

So if anyone can help with a laser unit, please step forward.

It could be the laser of course - the CD50 will be nearly 25 years old - but it might well not be. It could be the spindle motor which with age just doesn't spin fast enough and may need rebuilding.

is the cd50 new to you?

what were the faults that caused you to take it in for service?

Hi Guys,

I think I may have a problem with my CD50............

I've had a specialist look at it and he tells me the laser may be in need of replacement.

Doubt this is a replacement part, could anyone possibly help?
