Imagine all the fine vintage and near-vintage units that get thrown away because dealers can't be bothered. (And it's not just B&O). Really a shame. Your Beomaster can most certainly be repaired, and you'll probably be surprised by how little it will cost. And if not, then it will probably be a good donor unit for a repairer ...

I have no doubt that Tim can fix this! I am seeing him next week and he is fixing my Beogram 8002 at component level.

Well, that's what the dealer would tell you, because nowadays they only repair stuff by replacing circuit boards. Still, I'm also sure that the receiver could be fixed. The problem is finding someone who will do that for you

That's just bullshit. What they mean is "we don't have anyone capable of repairing the board to component level"

Blown a cicuit board or so I'm told and they cannot be sources any longer apparently

What is wrong with it? I am willing to bet it can be repaired!! I am afraid dealers are often simply not able to offer the same service facilities as they used to. But we know people who can! A 6500 is just the same but doesn't have RDS when used with a Beolink 7000.

The BeoMaster 6500 will do everything the 7000 does except you can't get Radio RDS information up on a screen of a BeoLink 7000 remote. If you don't use/want/need either, you'll be fine. I use a BeoMaster 6500 with my CD7000. The 6500 and 7000 are about as close to identical as it is possible to get.

I have a beosytem 7000 but the beomaster unit has developed a fault which I am told is irreparable; does anyone have any suggestions as to what unit would act as a best replacement (cannot seem to locate any replacement beomaster 7000's anywhere) ie does a 6500 work equally as well or would I be better selling the other components (cassette and CD)?
