Hi If anybody have problem with numbers of pins in the connector (not Vienna ;-) ) please see this page:

... looks like beeing the command for a PC connected to a TV - but you want to adress a BeoLink Active ...

Thanks for the pointer, I've played around with the config a little more, found the PC 'button' in the BeoIR tab but after adding it and pressing it on screen the red light above the Beolink Active's 'Play' button doesn't blink, neither can I see the LED at the back of the Beo 6 transmitting.

I've asked the dealer I purchased the Beo 6 from and they're not 100% sure themselves what the IR command is to change it's source to the 'PC' input but they're hopefully speaking with their tech team to find out.

In the meantime, has anyone got any ideas or even done this before?

I've tried loads of button IR combinations to try and make the Active do something although my B&O deal recommended variations of...

"PC" is not a "specific product" it's a command like "CD"or "RADIO"- you?/your dealer will have to add
a button/command to your Beo6 config

Hi Guys,

Sorry to dig up such an old topic! Currently setting up a system based on this guide...

The aim is to connect my TV (Samsung) RCA Line-Out to my Beolab 3's via the BeoLink Active for some volume control, so far have got everything, including the 2 / 4 / 7 'RCA > PC' cable off SoundsHeavenly although, after mocking the system up I'm failing at the very last hurdle!...

I don't use the Beo 4 controller so have no 'PC' button to switch the BeoLink Active to the PC input, I have the Beo 6 and have no idea where the 'PC' product is in the the latest (4.11) config tool? From reading around this might be a question for Keith but if anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Thank you Vienna for the wiring instructions

I printed off Vienna's instructions and emailed them to my local store, and SWMBO ferried the cable in, and the B&O technicians rewired the cable to Vienna's instructions, and we collected the cable today and so now I have been listening in my temporary office to:

BeoSound 4 FM Radio
BeoSound 4 SD card (A.MEM)
BeoSound 4 CD
BeoMaster 5000 FM Radio (actually better reception that on my BS 4!)
MacPro iTunes
MacMini iTunes
BeoSound 2 SD card

All wonderful :))

Ok, found these on Steve's website

Connect your TV or other RCA connected system to a Beolink Active http://soundsheavenly.co.uk/bando-beolinkrca.htm

Connect your iPod or 3.5mm audio jack device to a Beolink Active http://soundsheavenly.co.uk/bando-beolinkipod.htm

In both these cases if the unit is in the wall ask for longer cables and remember to use the local PC command on a Beo 4 to activate.

my BeoLink Active manual says that there is a manual for covering the attachment of devices to the PC port on the new model of the BeoLink Active

Must be a new addition. Any chance you can scan it?

This passage refers to "a relict of the past"
- to the BeoLink PC Office, not to BeoLink PC2/BeoPort:

*The socket marked PC is used in BeoLink PC setups only. Please
refer to the User’s guide enclosed with the BeoLink PC kit.

Explanation:
=========

Beolink PC Office had no PL Sockets and needed a BeoLink Aktive Upd 1636
(introduced 1999) to connect to active speakers.

The previous version of BeoLink Aktive 1616 (before 1999) had 2 PL sockets
therefore B&O had to cancel one PL socket to make way for the PC socket.

For safety reasons they "invented" the crazy pin-config I have described several times ...
"PC-Socket" on BeoLink Active 1636 - pin configuration - Source: BeoWise

1. SL-config
2. LEFT IN
3. Left out
4. RIGHT IN
5. Right out
6. Data -
7. GROUND / SHIELD
8. Data +

The PC-Office manual says:

…to your PC

Use the BeoLink PC cable box:

• Connect the appropriate plug to a free serial
COM port on your PC. If a 25 pin plug is
required, use a serial 9/25 pin adaptor.

• Connect the plug marked SOUND OUT to
the socket LINE OUT on the Sound card on
the back of your PC. If no LINE OUT socket is
available, use the speaker out socket instead
(SPK OUT).

• Connect the appropriate plug to the socket
marked PC on the BeoLink Active box.

The attached picture of a vintage PC Office shows the cable clearly
(but won't help you)

Solution:

Ask your dealer to rewire the faulty adaptor cable from pin 2/5/6 wiring
to the correct pin 2/4/7 configuration:

2. LEFT IN
4. RIGHT IN
7. GROUND / SHIELD

It's not a big issue when you have access to a soldering iron ...

PS: to all BeoLink 1000 devotees "PC" = "SHIFT"+"STORE"

Fully confirming all your findings !!

6271020 is the right part # but B&O has not wired it corresponding to
their own pin-layout (as published in BeoWise)

WARNING:

B&O 6271020 cables might have the WRONG PIN 2/5/6 wiring
- as I already posted some time ago !!!

Had the same problem with 3 !!! cables, so it's not a single error !!!

Have notified B&O support about this issue.

DEFINITELY WRONG !!!!!!!!!

pin5 - right(left) in channel
pin2 - left(right) in channel
pin6 - ground

DEFINITELY WRONG !!!!!!!!!

NO JOKE:

Just found out B&O Item#6271020 "Cable PC input adaptor for BeoLink Active" is

NOT WORKING PROPERLY due to wrong pin-config - (only left channel in bad quality)

I've already notified B&O support about this issue !!!

Tested again, just 5 minutes ago, using:

BeoSound 2 >> custom made cable - 3,5 Jack/DIN8 >> BeoLink Active ...

and it's WORKING PERFECTLY !!
