New for old basically means just that though. Good insurance companies do offer this level of service and you may well get more than you would expect. Clearly this will be a matter for negotiation but let us know what happens. Hiscox, who sponsor the site, offer a new for old policy - and from personal experience are quite frankly the best insurance company I have ever dealt with. They are used to dealing with high value claims and for those of use who own expensive kit which may be older. Click on the banner on the front page and have a look!

I was badly burgled some years ago and they settled immediately a claim for over £25,000 without a single quibble. The loss adjuster asked for the name as he said he had been told by them just to ask what I had lost and sort it out - which apparently is not the standard practice!

I would suppose your insurance company will pay you in cash what a beovision ME6000 costs used. In Denmark, that would be around £300. But it all comes down to all the conditions stated in your insurance policy. In my oppinion, a BV8 is not realistic, but again, it all comes down to all the conditions stated in your insurance policy. I know a couple who got their BL8000 stolen, and they recived 80% of the original purchasing price (back in 1997), thats not even enough to buy ONE BL8000 today!

well my girlfriend really has done it this time! we are in the process of moving house, and stupidly she went to pick up my beloved beovision me6000, which then ended up hitting the floor pretty hard when she realized she couldnt carry it!

Sorry to read that, but this is why my girlfriend is not allowed to put hands on anything of my B&O stuff (except the Beo4 ) !

As said before you should try to get a MX7000 or MX8000 (both active speakers). These are not manufactured by B&O anymore, but you might be able to get them pre-used via ebay. Some shops may even have MX8000 brand new.

The BV8. Matches in almost all ways as it is the cheapest in the range and not a link TV as standard. Whether your insurance company sees it like this is another matter. They may be happier to fund a MX8000 which could still be available.

so i have a dented wooden floor, but the biggest upset is tv is now completely knackered, plastic casing ruined, glass contasting screen gone, picture is now none existant too....so anyway because i have new for old home contents insurance, i was just wondering if i make a claim for accidental damage, what television can i expect? what is the new equivalent to the me6000? an answer would be greatly appreciated, regards james
