I'm trying to do the same.

Just a couple of questions. If I connect my BL 6000's to the preamp outputs, how will I control the volume?

Also, to conect the BL - 9000 to the AMP, do I use the dig out and plug that to a dig in on the AMP?

That's excellent advice. This sounds like the best possible combination for my requirements. Thank you.

My A/V unit has separate channels (six in total) out for each speaker (F/L, F/C, F/R, R/L, R/R, Sub) and offers 'amplified speaker out' connections for each channel (the volume will rise/fall as directed by the A/V volume control), or fixed level pre-amp outs (no volume control via A/V unit).

I guess I need to ask for the 'other part' you mention. I am talking to the local B&O electrician tomorrow and will post any update here in case it helps oithers (including part numbers etc.)

Depending on your pre/pro, the preferred setup would be Aux output from the BS-9000 into the CD input on the pre/pro. Then Pre-amp output from the pre/pro via RCA/Phono cable directly into the line input on the BeoLab 8000's. In this case the 9000 simply becomes another source for the pre/pro tp select, and the pre/pro sees the 8000's as a pair of monoblock amplifiers. In this case all you would need is the output adaptor (6270302 in the US), and a couple of RCA interconnects.

If the pre/pro is 'speaker' level out only, then there is another adaptor, whose part number escapes me at th moment, which can allow the 8000's to be connected to the outputs; but RCA connection is preferred.

I think Richer Sounds are quite right! That is assuming he is right about the pre-amp outs being at fixed level. the Aux input is designed to take input from tape players etc which have a fixed Line Out level. I am surprised the A/V amplifier has fixed level speaker outputs, but if he says it does...

So you need probably a two RCA to 5 pin DIN connector - I am sure Richer Sounds can get you one.

Hello. I'm stuck. I have a Beosound 9000 with Beolab 8000 speakers that I want to use as my Front Left and Front Right in a non-B&O surround sound set-up. How should I connect (output, cable and connection type) an A/V Receiver to the AUX input on a Beosound 9000 to use my Beo8000 speakers as Front Left and Front Right.

The guys at Richer Sounds say, connect the non-B&O speakers directly to the post-amp/speaker outputs, but the AUX In on the Beosound 9000 should be taken from the pre-amp outs for the Front L and Front R. They tell me the pre-amp outs are fixed level output (not variable) so if I need to adjust the volume when watching a 5.1 movie, I'll need to adjust both the B&O volume and the A/V volume for the directly connected speakers. This is a nuisance but apparently is very safe as a set-up. However, I've read I might need to turn up the B&O to at least '50' to get decent Front volume. Hhhmm...

The guy at B&O is however giving me conflicting advice...he says, whatever I do I must NOT directly connect a fixed level output to the AUX In on a Beosound 9000...only use a variable level input, whether that is pre-amp or post-amp...it is simply an issue about watching what volume you set the B&O at.
