Yes, Emmanuel is correct. If the TV software is below 7.3 then you will need to update it as well. The software update requires the replacement of plugin software chip IC3 on PCB6

Be careful Rasmus: maybe your will have to update the firmware on your Avant too. When I updated the DSS module on my BV3 Mk I (as you I only had DD and I wanted DD/DTS), there was no sound on the Beolabs, only on the TV... Upgrading the firmware to v10.4 fixed the problem. Ask your dealer.

The SW is a chip, to change it you will need a special tool to take out the old SW. And it's a very "ESD" sensitive, so would recommend a tec. to do the job.

Just checked the sw versions in the service menu, it says:

32 IC607 (AC3) sw 1.8
61 IC1+2 (AP) sw 4.1
14 IC707 (FEP) sw 2.1

In the softwarelist 250507 (posted here some time ago) the latest sw are:

AC 3 modul, Avant (32 IC 607) type 4019 sw 1.9
AC 3 s.w. with DTS type 4019 sw 2.3

So it seems that I don't have the latest sw in the module...

Is it possible to make a sw update yourself or can it be done by my dealer?

So the SW needs to be updated in the surround module...

Is that done by changing some ic's on the module or by a cable?

Is it posible to see the sw version in the service menu?

No it's not your cable, it's because DTS wasn't supported in the first surround module. So you need a SW update to get DTS.

No, that's perfectly correct.

Do you have already try with another external dvd player ? this could fix you about where is the problem located: if it's in the avant module or in your dvd1.

Be aware that not all the avant DD module models have the DTS chip fitted, but I don't know about your 4019 exact model.

Yes, the sound with Dolby Digital is perfect, but when i change the audiotrack to DTS on the DVD (I have dolby demo DVD with both Dolby Digital and DTS test signals and demos) the is no sound.

Is it a problem that I only use a normal audio phono to phono cable for the digital connection between the DVD and the Avant?

Thanks for your reply Stig.

There is no option in the DVD1 where I can setup audio output, and there is no sound when I connect it to input 2 on the Avant.

I have also tried to connect another non B&O DVD with a digital connection, -still no sound when playing DTS.

I think the problem is in the Avant...

Hi,

I have just installed a digital dolby module (type 4019) in my Avant (type 8390) including the software update and the extra resistor. I have two BL4000 attached to the Avant as front speakers. It seems like the module works fine with the new menus etc. My problem is that wheb I feed the Avant with a digital DTS signal from my DVD1 (type 4621) there is now sound. In Pro Logic mode the new module works fine.

The DVD1 is connected to the Avant with a scart cable (connected to AV-input) and a normal phono to phone cable from digital out on the DVD1 to digital input 1 on the Avant.

Is there anything I have to change in a setup menu on the Avant or the DVD1?
Do I have to use a special phono to phono cable for the digital signal?
Is there any way I can troubleshoot my setup?

Any help is appreciated
