Its a beautiful design that will never age. Also as seperates is easier to find a replacement if one part decides to give up. The 4500 is also equipped to run passive or active speakers and the cd4500 has a digital output

Edit: Oh and its also has two way communication via certain remotes which is always nice.

Re: Beocenter or Beosystem

Bear in mind that the 4500 looks brill' when wallmounted but needs a horizontal shelf for the turntable if you intend playing vinyl. It sort of ruins the look. If you only play CD's though - the choice is yours!

Re: Beocenter or Beosystem

Of all the systems you list, the amp in the Beomaster 5000 is the best if you want to drive passive speakers. It is also perhaps the best built, though maybe the 4500 system is the most attractive IMO.

Beocenter or Beosystem

As a "newie" to B&O vintage systems I've spent hours and hours looking at late 80's and early 90's systems and can't seem to make my mind up......................

I have a fantastic BC 9000 in superb condition hooked upto Penta 2's but would like to know how it stacks up against a Beosystem 4500

Part of my dilema is the set up - not compatability but how it all looks when shelf or wall mounted.

The BS4500 seperates from press pics looks divine wall mounted and Beolab 5000's blow me away.

So............how whats your preference........... beocenter of beosytem seperates?

I love the 5000, 6500, 7000 stack units but somehow love the retro 4500 and perhaps the old fashioned music center i.e. 9000,9300,9500

Whats the answer guys?????????????????????????
