The BL3 are positioned 6-7 meters in front and the BL4 wall mounted just behind the viewing position and yet the BL4 are turned up by 2 in the sound adjustment menu on the Avant.
But for movie watching they do the job perfect.

/Lars

Re: How is Beolab 4 as rear-speakers in a surround-setup?

martin01:

Hi, I have a pair of Beolab 1 as front, and Beolab 2, and CX100 as rear-speakers today. I´m thinking of replace the CX100 and buy Beolab 4 instead.

Is Beolab 4 a decent rear-speaker or is it to weak for a rear-speaker? My room is 3,5x4 meters.

Regards

Martin

Hello Martin,

I had this setup at the beginning: BL1s with BL2 at front and BL6000 as rears, controlled by the DD avant module in a 105 m3 lounge;
Then I was trying for some days with BL4s at rear... the sound was clear and crisp, but too weak for the really powerful front combo, and the sound was unbalanced even with 5.1 films (listening double stereo music was simply too bad for me) so finally I swapped the BL4s for BL3s, and I'm really happy now.

Re: How is Beolab 4 as rear-speakers in a surround-setup?

My setup is: BL8000 front and BL4 as rear, connected to the Avant DD module. The BL4's are hanging upside down on the wall mounts at about 220 cm above the floorlevel. I think they are good enough in the surround-setup for watching DVD's with 5.1 sound. Disadvantage: the direction of the BL4 is fixed in the wall mount, you cannot direct it to the center of the room.

When used as extra speakers when listening to music (SPEAKER4) you notice the difference in quality, I always take care the the BL8000's produce the loudest sound.

In general: I'm satisfied with it. When money was not an issue I think I'll should use a pair of BL3 for a better balanced use when playing music.

How is Beolab 4 as rear-speakers in a surround-setup?

Hi, I have a pair of Beolab 1 as front, and Beolab 2, and CX100 as rear-speakers today.
