The LX and MX share both the same chassis and tube ... so were not different when new ;o)

I have MX7000 (Living Room) and LX6000 (Bedroom) The MX has the edge on picture quality and active speakers, but as Peter says the LX6000 has excellent sound quality and a wide sound stage (set your DVD player to 3D sound and its stunning) Neither Tv was particularly expensive and they look pretty cool on the small motorised bases.

It's only MX4200 that has RF tube, MX8000 has: Pin code, STB controller, 1780 p teletext, 4/3 and 16/9 support, camcorder input, active speaker, HDR2 support, OSD and auto tune and naming.

optional: Master link, anti reflex, 5,1 DD and DTS, modulator (if Master), DVB-S, on some old sets: STB controller.

On a final note ... it will be cheaper and easier to fix an MX6000 if it breaks!!!

Interesting sets! The MX4200 is really the odd one out as it actually has a Panasonic tube unlike all the others in the series. I don't know about the MX8000 mind you!

Of this type of set, I would always have an LX6000 - despite not having active speakers, it does still have plenty of power - to compare with the active speakers, think 40W a channel (I would say 20W but you should know my views by now! ) The speakers are in a decent sound box and well spread and are two way. One also has the option of attaching active or passive speakers. I am afraid I am less taken with the picture on RF screens really - swings and roundabouts - but there again, I like the 3200SJ!!!

Not many people understand the difference between these two.

The 4000/4002 and 6000/7000 are based on the old MX/LX chassis which has been around for years with minor modification and updates (active speakers in the 7000 being one).

The 4200 and 8000 are based on the same chassis as BV1 which is much more modern with STB controller and masterlink options among others. Nobby tells me that behind the contrast screen is a RF tube with higher spec. The increase in picture quality is obvious to the viewer.

There are not many 4200/8000 models around.

I think a major difference is that MX 8000 (as well as MX 7000) has active speakers, while MX 6000 has passive speakers.

I also thinks MX 8000 was absed on another chassis, which came with (optional?) anti-reflex coated contrast screen, STB-C, surround sound module and some more connections (e.g. camcorder).

The speakers in the 8000 are Active not Passive like the 6000.

The beo4 can control the 6000 with no problems.

You are able to connect passive speakers to the MX6000, not possible on the 8000.

8000 has ML 6000 has MCL.

I would be grateful to know the difference between these two. On the surface, they appear to be the same design and size [with a 28" screen]. The 6000 is older and came with the Beolink 1000 remote while the 8000 uses a different motorized stand and came with a Beo4 remote. Anything else? Can the Beo4 fully control the 6000? What about the pre-owned prices for these?
