So, I believe the transit screw is loosened. Also the CD hub turns smoothly by hand, no snags.

Pekka

Re: Ouverture CD not working

OK. You have no transit screw on that model so it can't be that.

Another thing to check is that the cd mech has not become mechanically jammed in transit.

Press the load button and the clamper should rise. Now press on the central boss and the whole mechanism should move on it's mounting springs? Does it move or is it jammed?

Re: Ouverture CD not working

I do not see it move at all. :)

But if you mean the slot, where it is supposed to move, it is a straight vertical slot and the laser eye is at the top of it.

I saw another post of the CD mechanism, where a replacement kit is referred. Is that some new version of the drive? And if yes, what goodies would it bring and on what cost?

Pekka

Re: Ouverture CD not working

Does the cd laser move in an arc or in a straight line?

Ouverture CD not working

Hello,

I just bought an Ouverture from overseas, and just my luck, the CD don't seem to work. Tape and radio are OK, as far as I tested.

I press load and the arm rises nice, and I can place a CD on its place, face up, of course. Then pressing either load or CD closes the arm, but the CD does not turn. Pressing CD again and listening very close, I can hear a slight humming sound for about 3 secs, still the CD do not move and the display shows "CD <>" after a while.

Is it the CD mechanism, or am I missing something?

I found a mention about loosening a transport screw, but I do not find one. I do not have the setup guide, where this is told, I think.

What would be the cost of the CD mechanism? Anyone had one changed?

Cheers,

Pekka
