Now hear this, Struer. This is the way forward.
A micro thin acetate strip impregnated with a magnetic compound. This could be scanned vertically and helically by a circular rotating pickup, which the acetate strip is wrapped half way round, and slowly drawn forward by a motor and coiled up on a secondary reel.

DVD2 was a product that was caught between some changing technologies. It was no secret that much of the device was a Philips product - and there was a real concerted effort not to go with one technology (HD-DVD or BR) until one clear winner emerged.

Now that this has happened, i think a replacement DVD2 (maybe DVD3?) will follow, that will look physically similar, but start up within the hour and have the ability to play DVD and BR as well as recording. Issues the engineers are well aware of.

Let's be serious for a minute. We all know that the BeoSound 5 will be a crank operated MP3 player with an enormous brass horn as the speaker. Let's put these wax cylinder rumors to bed once and for all!

IMO, they should try to release a BR-Disc-Player asap. But this will be difficult with B&O. As they are working together with Samsung anyway, they could take a Samsung BR-Disc-Player and do what they did with the DVD2. The best solution would be an upgraded BC2, but I think I am dreaming now...

A Blueray-Player has to be integrated in Beovision 7, but this will happen in the year 2015, as we know B&O!

Critical bunch! I think discontinuing the DVD2 was wise as it was doing nothing for the image of B&O. I would rather and indeed do use the DVD-C and another make of DVD-R.

Is it coincidence, that the decision in the format-war between HD-DVD and Blue-Ray Disc and the decision to discontinue the DVD2 took place almost within a few weeks? Could it be that for once, B&O will adopt a new technology without to much delay? Could the DVD2 be replaced by a new Blue-Ray Disc player from? What do you think?
