Also remember that you are running at 110 volts from your normal sockets, so the current is higher, but is not double.

Therefore I suggest you purchase at least a 300 watt transformer.

Re: Avant 32 VCR - UK to Canadian/USA spec?

Thought so!

What wattage of step up transformer will ensure the TV works at peak performance? Thanks for the link to that. I will be using an external cable box/DVD Player so I have no problem with decoding.

However, I'm confused re: the transformer solution though. The poster bought a step up/step down convert for 300 watts and it didn't work, however he then bought a 250w model and it worked properly? Here are the details from my set:

Beovision 32 VCR

220-240v ~50/60Hz

Power Consumption: 110w

Item# 1835108

Type 84/02

Re: Avant 32 VCR - UK to Canadian/USA spec?

That is a UK plug so you have a 230V model. You therefore need a step up transformer capable of increasing the voltage to 230V. It needs to be a very heavy duty one! There has been a thread about this before - it was about a DVD Avant but same basic idea - look here!

Avant 32 VCR - UK to Canadian/USA spec?

Hello,

I just picked up a used Avant to complement my Beosound. adapter/voltage converter do I need so I can use the TV safely without
blowing up my house? lol. I've attached a photo of the plug in question. Also - how do I connect an external cable box or DVD player?
