    beocom 6000

    Am I missing something here......

As far as I can tell the Mk1 and Mk 2 versions are the same, apart from the current version you can add up to 8 rather than 6 handsets, and the current version you need to buy a separate PSTN box (another piece of kit to try to hide away), whereas with the Mk1 version the PSTN is neadly encapsulated in to the pyramid base charger / table stand.

Is there any advantage to the Mk 2 version which I'm missing, which might pursuade me to spend the extra cash?

    Thanks

You can use a hands free with Mk II. Not possible with Mk I.

I amguessing that Keith will be a along in a minute,  he is the expert on the Becom 6000. The Mk1's and Mk2's are quite different underneath.

If you already have a Mark I Beocom 6000 and it is working correctly, then there is little benefit from a general user viewpoint unless you wish to use the hands free option.

There is in fact three (3) versions of the Beocom 6000:-

    1. A Mark I version
    2. An updated Mark I version which provides all the functions of the Mark II including the same software, EXCEPT it does NOT have the earset socket and needs to be charged on a Mark I charger.
    3. A Mark II version

The key differences between a Mark I and Mark II are:-

    • CLI (Caller Line Identification) works in all locations where available, there are some issues with the Mark I
    • The Menu is much more user friendly.
    • The internal intercom feature is easier to use (my view)
    • The conferencing facility
    • Display is in upper and lower case text

Also, if you get a fault on the internal module, you cannot have it replaced, it must be upgraded with a B&O upgrade kit.

    Regards Keith....

Many thanks Keith for the comprehensive information. I've decided on a Mk2. I think. Mainly the handsfree which swings it for me.

There is one advantage that the Mk1 has over the Mk2 that nobody seems to notice.
A gradually increasing ring tone that wakes you up gently instead of catapulting you out of bed!
Yes, the Mk1 is definately more hangover friendly!

That's true Andy, but you also have 8 different ring tones on the Mark II

But, I am sure that as a "Driving Instructor" you don't have hangovers !!

    Regards Keith....

Yes, and a multitude of different languages too. I would still trade them for the increasing ringer though. I will always keep a Mk1 in my boudoir for this reason.
PS I'm allowed a hangover on Sunday mornings.Wink
