I'm wondering about this "camera" -- do I really want to be reminded, regularly, that my screen is degrading? Given what it cost in the first place?

Glad to read that they remembered to patent, this time Wink

PS is every 100 hours of viewing, regular?

For me that would be every month

    Dear All:

I am getting use to the BV 7 & BS 3 in one unit.  The BV 7 is doing fine and so far, I have enjoyed dramas, action, thrillers, sci-fi and educational videos.  The  BV 7 has performed well.  I experience fludder in one movie but I think it was a function a poor DVD.

The blacks are not as deep but are very nice and dark.  I am more impressed with the sound processor.  The set up is made up of BL 9 front, BL 3 rears & BL 7-4 center; the Bl 9 are impressive during moving watching.  The bass and rumble is enjoyable.   The Fifth element was quite enjoyable.

Granted, this is my first tele in about 10 years.  The current system is not set up to receive DTV or aerial signal.  On the design front; the set up is none intrusive and  being able to rotate and tilt the screen is a big plus.

So far the experience has been good...

You have no picture. One needs to see it in its entire beauty. If possible how the camera arm is in operation. I think that is when people come from behind the couch. And then also, if you walk by your dealer today, he most likely won't have one to look at.

    Cheers

Questionable, indeed: being regularly reminded about degrading picture quality can be difficult to take. I experience it every morning while shaving - and it's not the mist on the 'glass panel' I blame  Big Smile At least they do have some sort of solution, I don't ...

Re: Updated BV4 is GO !!!

The rolled frame on the new range isnt a welcome improvement. From a distance it looks like plastic( it isnt) but it makes the unit look even bigger. Far prefer the sharper frame as before. And when the bl10 comes along it seems to match the old BV4 perfectly but not the new one!

I never heard of a consumer complain about the alteration of colours during the lifetime of the product. At a time when other manufacturers are introducing panels with double the life expecancy I would have preferred that BnO put the resources into this kind of improvement, which is far more worthwhile and renders this gimmick worthless. Or concentret the resources on always providing the latest generation of panel rather than 1 or 2 generations behind. Ok this new feature is a BnO first but in terms of picture quality its a flawed response to the present market

I have to agree with you on the plasma feature, 355f.

Getting regular "My expensive screen is fading" reminders seems a shot in the foot. As the feature self-calibrates every 100-hours, you could risk getting this reminder quite frequently, and at least every two weeks in most households with regular viewing patterns.

But I guess this is more of a "look what I1ve got" feature, more than anything else.

The blacks are exceptionally deep for an LCD. They bear no comparison to the blacks on my old BV7-32 MKI.

Saw Narnia on Sky 1 HD the other night and was astonished. I think that has to be the most flawless and most stunning picture I've seen, so far. As I've mentioned on here numerous times, my landlords *used* to be big B&O fans and were wary of the expensive and reasoning for upgrading to the BV7-40 MKIII. They saw it for the first time the other night and both agreed that the picture was stunning - football in HD looks amazing.

The only downside is SD. Mind you, reducing the sharpness to 12 has helped slightly. It's reduced some of the more obvious pixelisation on SD, whilst HD still looks very sharp. A sharpness level of 12 seems to be more effective than the factory-default of 14.

It's too bad they decided to change the appearance to the BV9-style... I don't really like the BV9, I much more preferred the "sharp" look of the BV4.

But I do like the idea of the IR-receiver built in to the frame itself, rather than having to mount a separate one on the wall!

Re: Updated BV4 is GO !!!

In fairness to B&O, if they kept the flat aluminium panels we'd only moan that they never did anything to update it !!

I prefer the rounded edges of the BV9 myself - but hey, i have a BV9 and i'm used to it - and when i look at the older style BV4 i think it does look dated now.  Horses for courses though - we're all different.

    Me like it!

I´ve never thought about BV4 before, but now SHMBO said NO! (with the tone of a brick wall) to BV9. This made me look at BV4 (with BL 7.2) instead.

The new corners give me a feeling of BV9. I never liked the sharp corners on BV4. Looking forward to see it in the flesh.

Actually, I will lend a BV9 over a weekend as a last try to change her mind. Unsure

That said, since the press release and pictures are all over the internet why do they not update their website.

Not sure what they mean by launch, maybe one of the dealer can post when they will hit stores.

The product page for BeoLab 4000 (with ICE amps) still hasn't been updated, so the new BV4 might be updated...next year?Sad

There hasn' t even been a press release in the PR section.

More bizarre than that, the last time I checked, the 'new' BV7-40 specs still referred to the old MKII, with a 768 screen. Not entirely sure why parts of the B&O website take a while to be updated?

What is that menu that is visible on the screen from the pictures SAF posted? Is this beomedia? I thought that looks different? The artist BT that is visible was a neighbor of mine while living in New Jersey.
