Is the new Beovision 4 so much cheaper in the USA then in Europe?

    I really don't understand.

In this American article the new Beovision 4-50 will cost $7.500 ( = €5.040 )

    http://www.i4u.com/article13929.html

Here in this German article the new Beovision 4-50 will cost €15.595

    http://www.digital-world.de/index.cfm?pid=8&pk=1258146

Both articles mention the Beolab 10 seperatly ( read not included)  so that can not be the difference, In my opinon..

Can anyone explain this huge pricedifference to me ??

I think it has something to do with BeoSystem 3, in the US price BS 3 is not included (I think), it's only the price of the panel.

How strange. A Beovision has always been a complete television, wasn't it so?

So why are they now using the name of a complete television (Beovision) and mention the price of only the display ? You cannot recieve anything with that !!!

In my opinion not very honest.

I don't follow you. Also in the USA a Beovision was always a complete device, wasn't it?

The $7500 is the price for the BeoVision 4 50" by itself. You need to add BeoSystem 3 ($7700) and BeoLab speakers. The BV4 has always been separate from the BeoSystem.

I think Bingo wants to say that the US prices never include VAT.

    No, I don't.

In europe the Beovision 4 is always including the Beosystem 3 so I thought that is also the case in the USA.

And to be honest, it is misleading to call a plain plasmapanel a Beovision in my opinion.

Sorry Bingo, I should have written  "I think jk1002 wants to say..."

But you are right, the BV4 should be the same "package" in US and Europe, everywhere.

Re: Is the new Beovision 4 so much cheaper in the USA then in Europe?

So, the price isn't 5000,- euro in the EU Sad. It's just the screen without any conncections for around 7000,- euro's ?

Don't get me wrong, but if that's the real price, B&O should kick the whole salesman crew out of the factory. It's just insane [:'(]

I really thougt this was the answer on Pioneer, and it should make a really good B&O setup possible <20K (Bl's 5 in stereo, Bv4 as the screen (who's cares about 5.1 if you can get the 5's Stick out tongue))

Re: Is the new Beovision 4 so much cheaper in the USA then in Europe?

Yes, I also hoped that they were getting back on the right way. To buy a centerspeaker seperatly, I can live with. And to be honest, the price of the new Beovision 4 would be much more realistic.

Four HDMI inputs becomes standard this year by a lot of manufacturers on their premium models, so in that case the Beosystem 3 does not offer anything special anymore.

I agree with you Beobird, keep asking €15000,- for the Beovision 4-50 is not the solution to survive for Bang & Olufsen I think.
