Are these dead? 6000 repair estimate.

Hey guys are these dead? How much is a repair going to cost me (ball park)? It looks like it is on the one speaker. What could have caused such serious damage?

It's just a cone replacement, which is no way near enough to call for a replacement. Very cheap to repair and very routine operation for any engineer. I'd just talk to your local dealer...

Alex is quite correct. Many 6000's exhibit degradation of the rubber surrounds at 10 years plus. I have replaced several.

Might as well replace all 4. Cost is around £30 per driver plus labour. Tweeters should be checked at the same time as they are prone to fail with a burnt out voice coil. Their cost is about the same but the speakers are then as good as new.

    Might need some running in!!!Devil

Thanks, I found them for sale in Japan for a reasonable price and I am quite tempted as I always have loved the beolab 6000. If its not too expensive I may pick them up and have all of them replaced and get the tweeters checked too.

Omg, have to check my own BL6000. How do you remove the front cover?

Just slide them up about 20mm and lift them off.

I may pick them up and get them fixed up. Seems like it will be a bargain if they are cheap enough to get fixed.
