Fixing a "cut" at the surface of the base of Beosound 1 floor stand?

When I was disassembling my Beosound 1 floor stand, I accidentally dropped the heavy black support platform on the surface of the base, making a "cut" on the beautiful surface.

It doesn't seem that the surface part is replaceable. Does anyone know how to fix this "cut"?  Would filing with sand paper help?

    Sincerely,
    Rudy

    Hi!

The short answer is: get the spare part! Those examples I have seen of fixing dents in soft brushed aluminium usually does more harm (visually) to the stand. And these spare parts are usually rather inexpensive (for B&O, anyway).

The part is replaceable though your dealer may have difficulty finding the part number as it is not listed under their standard parts system.  Tell them to call tech support and get the part number.

I changed one of these myself.

    Thanks,

    Martin

Thank you for the info and I am so glad to hear that a new cover is available.

However, I examined the unit, but I don't see how I can take out the old cover (it appears that the shaft and the base are one piece).  Please advise.

    Hi Rudy,

Look underneath the stand - I seem to remember that there is a screw to hold the shaft in place.  Remove the screw and then unscrew the shaft from the stand base by turing the shaft anticlockwise.

From there you need to prise off the base plate - but don't do it until you have your new one as there is no turning back!!!  The base plate (silver bit you scratched) will get bent out of shape as you priseit off, but the new replacement will go on fine.

    Thanks Martin.

A B&O technician here in Hong Kong told me the cover is attached to the solid base by double-side adhesive tape (in my opinion, there should be a better, more elegant way for the attachment).  I successfully detached the cover (I used a screw driver, but changed to a long knife, which worked better).  The cover didn't get bended in the procedure (so there is turning back).

Now all I have to do is to order the new cover (around US$120; a whole new stand is around US$320) and put it on.
