IR Code Converter for the BM8000 questions

So now that my Beomaster 8000 is back in great faultless playing order I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the actual parts are called to do the IR Code Converter which would be fun to at least try out. The Beovission would be my LX5500 instead of a MX5000 as the manual on this site is using.

    The manual says:

    1: Code converter control box

2: Code converter Infra Red Sensor

3: Infra Red Sensor taple top mount

4: AC power supply( not used with Beosystem 5500 or Beocenter 7700)

5: Cable with 8 pin DIN plug one end and 2-3 pin speaker plugs on the other end( Not used with Beosystem 6000 or 8000.)

6: Cable with 5 pin DIN plug on each end.

7: Adabtor cable with 5 pin DIN socket on one end and 2-RCA plugs on the other end.

8: Cable with mini-plug on one end and BLUE led on the other end. (Not used with Beosystem 5000 or Beocenter 7700)

The only item I got is the Adabtor cable listed as item 7. My question is what are the actual part numbers and are they called anything special link something?

The reason you are not getting many responses is, like me we do not have any answers for you.

I have gone through the manual and clearly the key part which you are only going to get via the second hand market is the "Code Convertor Control Box" itself, everything else can either be made or obtained.

Even if you had the part numbers and I have looked in some old manuals I have, but could find none, it would not really help you because I think you would be very lucky if you found a B&O dealer with one somewhere in the back of their store room.

Peter may well be able to throw some light on this and if anyone has even seen or has got one of these control boxes, then please let us know.

    Regards Keith....

    Richard,

Yes its this little grey box we are talking about. They are basically the same as I understand it, so this information would be helpful.

Well I really can't find the info for doing this on site even though I have seen some site doing some description of the link and BM8000/BM6000 were mentioned with numbers. I thought it was Beoworld but I can't locate it at all.

I know that very very few is doing this at all these days but at least it should be on Beoworld if the part numbers turn up.

I think you may have seen it on the old Beoworld site which was lost. There was extensive pages of part numbers.

I may have found the part number for the whole kit which is 8089017 and if you put "B&O 8089017" into Google you get just one result

That's the kit I have ( 8089017 ) , I have the instruction and gives set-ups for all the possible B&o equipment it can be used with . I can send it to Peter to copy and put in the manual section unless it's all ready there . Another good book is the Master Control Link Handbook , I downloaded it from the old site and presume it's still there , it covers just about every possible Link set-up .

Re: IR Code Converter for the BM8000 questions

I had one of those - looks like a MCL passive box but with an odd lead coming out of it. I gave mine to Tim Jarman as I thought he might actually use it! It could be used for a variety of products - BM6000, 8000, 5000 and some of the BC7000 series. Thought I had put the manual on site but I cannot find it at the moment! I'll keep looking!

They are not that great by the way!

    Richard,

The manual and installation instructions are on the manuals section of the web site and I agree that the Master Control Link Handbook is a good document.

Peter, have a look HERE for the manual

I had one connected to a BS5000 and can't fault it , worked seamlessly , but a bit of a mess of wires .

It would be off great help if you did. Beoworld should have a copy.

Now that the actual kit number is found I will try and see if I can find it somewhere.

I've noticed that one. It's the only one comming up in a search as mentioned.

As I'm living in Denmark about 12 km from the B&O factory I will try to search locally first.

    HI,

If anyone knows how to get hold of one of these converters, can anybody please let me know.

I would love to limit my remotes to just the one......and I don't want to get rid of my beosystem 5000.

    Thanks

Re: IR Code Converter for the BM8000 questions

    I got some updates.

As said earlier in this thread all the cables and such is not the problem to obtain.

The box is the Master control link 82 type 2041 which is modified for use with the Beolab 8000/Beosystem 6000.

I found this that confirms it:

    http://www.beoworld.org/beotech/accessories30.htm

The site says another kit is needed too but that is if there is an MCL kit allready installed acording to the IR code converter manual.

For a Beolink 1000 to control its the box+ cables and nothing else. Beomaster 6000 needs a modification otherwise the same.

    This would be the kit:

Re: IR Code Converter for the BM8000 questions

    Another update:

I went by my local B&O dealer today. I printed out the IR code converter manual and took it with me.

He said that the only item his got is item 8 on the list which is the Lead on one end and a mini plug on the other cable which goes to the IR out on the converter box.

The sensor and tablemount does come up at least on the used/secondhand marked if he can't get them.

He got the printed manual and he will do some research.

That's item 6 which should be coupled with item 7:

Connecting those will give RCA to the Beomaster 8000 Tape2 play inputs acording to the manual but I only got DIN on mine. The other end goes to the Beovision Powerlink input in my case LX5500. I can make the DIN to RCA on Tape2play but it would give the same to drop the RCA adapter in the first place?

    Ok

I just won this on Qxl.dk which is a Danish auction site.

    http://www.qxl.dk/kobe/hi-fi-tv--video/bang--olufsen/link-produkter/beolink/beolink-ldre/v/an561264290/

It says the box has no type nmber and it does have the odd lead out.

Is this the actual box cause it sure looks like it?

    friedmett,

it looks to me like you have a winner there -sure looks like it to me too!

as i recall, there is some boardwork to be done on the 6000/8000 for the kit...

glad to see you may have found your holy grail at a pretty good price!

Re: IR Code Converter for the BM8000 questions

    Thank you.

I got into a bidding war but about 46£ is fair enough. That ebay auction a few months ago were up there too as I recall.

The Beomaster 8000 should be able to take it straight on and 6000 modified acording to the IR manual.

I will keep you posted with the test results.

one other quick thought... i believe the typical mcl ir receiver is common to this kit.

so, you should be able to source one in white to match your goods!

Re: IR Code Converter for the BM8000 questions

    It could be.

There is 2 ways to install it. I plan to use the Beomaster 8000 at first but I will see how it goes.

I can use the box straight with the Beovision and use the Beolink 1000 or I can ad the MCL82 and use it for extra speakers  in another room. I've found a MCL82 box for sale online so I might go for that one too.
