    BeoCom 5 software update?

I've noticed a small problem with the BeoCom 5 where it occasionally hangs up on the caller when I put the phone down on the speakerphone base (after answering and when I want to put the caller on speaker). It doesn't happen every time, but happens fairly frequently. Worse, put the phone on the base and I start talking and realise the other person isn't on the line. Not good for handling a business call.

I'm assuming that this should have been fixed in a software update.

How does one go about updating the software in a BeoCom 5? Is it possible to do it ourselves or do we need to get an engineer in to handle this?

    Re: BeoCom 5 software update?

In case anyone else is wondering, the answer is that the BeoCom 5 is software updatable. Took both handsets to my dealer today who noticed they were at 2.1 (Nov 2010) and updated them to the most recent 2.3 software. No idea what this does or offers nor whether it fixes the above problem (yet).

Does the SW update need the speakerphone as well or just the mobile handset?

Just the handset. Took 5 minutes per handset. Took both to my dealer and was out in 15 minutes. It can only be done by your dealer, though.

Thank you. Did you figure out the changes already? Is Caller Identification for incomming calls now implemented?

No, I think only the dealer has this info. I tried taking a look through the changelog, but it wasn't extensive.

Caller ID has always worked? My handsets had software build 2.1 (Nov 2010) and has always displayed the caller ID.

Does any other phone in your home display Caller ID?

I ask, because you need to be sure that A) you have that service from your phone company, and B) that the people calling actually "broadcast" the number.

Yes, it's the service company (BT) providing the info as we opted in to receiving caller-ID on our lines. Previously we had BT digital phones on the two office lines but ditched them as the quality was so poor. You could barely hear the other person if you walked around the office (although they could hear me without any problems!).

The BT phones also displayed the caller ID.

If you go to your dealer, take your BeoLine 2 with you as well. The software on this device can be updated too.

Actually, the update does not do anything for you from 2.2 to 2.3 because its just a software change to ensure that the units are backward compatible after a new hardware component was introduced into production.

Only one problem was fixed from veraion 2.1 to 2.2 and that is if you are in a call and you place the phone on the speaker it ends the phone call.

From version 2.0 to 2.1 the following issues were resolved:-

    • tHE Handset loses contact with THE base -- "Base not found"
    • No dial tone on line 2 after incoming call. US VERSION ONLY
    • No caller-ID, no missed call, no caller-ID in list
    • With Swedish base language, the duration of the call no longer fits in the screen area

    Regards Keith....

That fixes my problem then :)

My problem was exactly that (see the original post) and I had v2.1 installed on the BeoCom 5s. Both were upgraded from 2.1 to 2.3.

    Re: BeoCom 5 software update?

Just a quick follow up on this.

Since the SW 2.3 update, the problem where the call would end when a live caller was put on speaker, has been fixed (as Keith said it was in 2.2). Also the sound quality appears to have stablised slightly.

    Good news all round. Happy.

Is there an easy way to establish what SW version the Beocom 5 is running?

The dealer typed in a special code on the keypad. I'm sure Keith or someone else will know?

    Re: BeoCom 5 software update?

    Hello,

I have a Beocom5 with Handset SW 1,7 and Base SW2,1. My problem is that the caller ID is not shown on th edisplay. Telekom provider has this feature open, but Beocom does not show who calls.

    Would an update help me?

Is BASE = Speakerphone, or is Base the Beoline2?

What do I need to take to my dealer for the update?

    Thanks,
