Best Freeview Receiver for Beovision 1 ?

    Hi,

I have the Beovision 1, and because it's an analogue TV need a digital freeview box. 4 different boxes have been auditioned. The box with the best picture turned out to be my 4 year old crown CDST900, which produces a smooth almost analogue like video,  but has damaged audio channels. The 3 others had a typically harsh digital picture.

Could someone please recommend a digital freeview unit for use with this excellent TV.

B&O promoted the use of the Panasonic Freeview box for the Avant and BV1/BC1. Early TV's in these models were pre-Freeview and will need to have their STB modules updated. All my B&O SD TVs are running with the Panasonic TU-CT30.. now only obtainable secondhand. The TU-CT30 (and 20?) were in the first Freeview compatible module lists, from around 2002 onwards. If you do need to update the STB module then there may be several later / current Freeview boxes in the list.

    Dreambox.

Be sure to change the signal to RGB for best quality... (better than CVBS or S-Video).

I've always been impressed with offerings from Grundig. Also the Humax range is supposed to be superb!

Posted here some hours ago but it was snatched by the automoderator for some reason.

The post may yet appear: these TV's originally used the Panasonic TU-CT30 (or 20) Freeview box. It's in the STB list for modules installed roughly between 2002 and 2006. Now out of production but you may find one on eBay. Best to check the STB list on your TV and then search for a listed box if you want to avoid having a new module/ chip fitted. If you don't have the module in your BV1 then just go for the best current box (which, obviously, you wont be able to control via your Beo4 lacking the module/ IR blaster)).
