I visited a Brookstones shop in San Diego-USA, in 1995 and saw a Beocenter 2500. At this moment, I knew I was starting to get addicted by B&O...

In 1996, I got a set of second-hand BL8000s, that I refurbished over the following years. Then in 1998, I got my first new BS Ouverture. I will always remember that moment, when my heart was pumping so fast at the sight of the B&O parcel being delivered at my doorstep.

It was 1977-- a college friend had just gotten a BeoMaster 2400 receiver, BeoGram 4002 turntable and pair of BeoVox P30 panel speakers.  I was in love but too broke to buy the same set-up for myself.

Over the years I've aquired several B&O systems and products, but still longed for that system my college friend owned.

About two years ago I came in contact with a person who restored vintage B&O, and I finally acquired that original "object of my desires."   I have to say, I love it as much- maybe more- than all my modern B&O systems.

Great question.  Brings back a lot of nostalgia.

Around 1996 I saw the BL8000 for the first time. Since then, I had been dreaming about these speakers. 11 years later I could afford them. I guess I will always like them...

BS2300 which is still in use after 10 years. I  updated the BL2500 with the Aluminum Fronts to freshen up the look. Never regretted the purchase, I am still in love with it.

Beomaster 1900, linked to Beogram 4002 in the late 70s at my parent's shop.

So exotic, between the Pioneer, Marantz and Sony stuff.

It has been love at first sight.

The first time I saw an Avant turn I became a fan of B&O.

The first B&O product that really made my jaw drop was the MCP 6500, and that was what made me make my first B&O purchase, a MX3000 in white with the BL1000, and I was hooked !

One year later i bought a Beosystem 6500 in white with Beovox pentas (This system I have donated to my mother now so I still get to play with it).

Around 10 years ago I wanted a high quality, compact component system that played multiple music formats (e.g. vinyl, CD, etc.).  Hello Beosystem 5000.  Still have it.  Still love it.

Beomaster 2400 I suppose. Just so different to everything else at the time.

I saw an article in a magazine that featured the Beogram 3000 back in the mid eighties. At that time I already knew I had to have B&O. The first products I saw for real were a Beocenter 9000 and a Beosystem 3300.

    Good question!

When I got presented my BC9000 at a dealer in 2003 it hooked me so much that I still got it and had to have the rest of the Beolab 8000 system.

A few months later I had a full Beosystem 2000(80s) with the Atycca II so i would say it's a tie between the BC9000 and Beosystem 2000.

I remember in the early 80's as a school kid when I visited a friends house and they had  a beocenter 4000, the one with two tape decks. I just loved the style of the thing. Then a few years later I went to a christmas carol service at one of my parents neighbours houses and was astonished by an entire house that could be controlled by a star trek like remote. It was a white 6500 system with pentas in 3 or 4 different rooms and white cx 100s everywhere else, white tv's as well. My jaw hit the floor, it still would today. I think its the best set up Ive ever seen. Thats when I thought "one day......."

Re: The B & O product/object that made you fall for them?

    great question.

so great that it is killing me. for a long time i have been trying to think about this on my own before this post came along.

    problem is:

    i remember when: a cold, dark, winter night 78/79 - i was 13

i remember where: shadyside / pittsburgh, pa / usa

i remember why: went to an audio store w/ my brother's college roommate who now worked for the family to take delivery of his fancy new receiver: a nakamichi 730

i remember what happened: while he was getting his lesson on the 730 and closing up the deal, i gravitated over to "this other section" of the store. holy cow! 13 years old and i found a place that sold the most amazing things i had ever seen, star trek? star wars? 2001 space odyssey? -yep -all that black / aluminum / red lights... i need that! "DON'T TOUCH THAT!" ok, i'll just look... but someday i will play!

what i don't remember: what it all was! best i can recall, likely a bm1700, bm2400, maybe a bc3300/4000 or similar...

    a profound evening!

That will be the 2400/1900! Almost alien when seen with other receivers of its time. The fact that there are just no buttons makes it even today seem incredible. But in 1978, just astounding.

    yep, prob a 2400 involved, perhaps a 1900 too!

what rang a bell w/ the 1700 / 1600 was the recall of caterpillar tracks...

star wars and tonka trucks in (1) piece! wow! (13 year old outlook)... lol

i distinctly remember tangential turntables too...

somewhere in the year 1990 : the looks BL5000 for sure ! a painting as well as a beautifull sounding speaker [I still own them, together will several BL4500 sets] and the sound of the Penta III [still own them as well] the magic of the sliding curtains of the Avant [I don't own the one from those days anymore, but still have one in the [children's bedroom] abfab !! nowadays I prefer the BV3 over the avant.
