    Got me some Beolab 9's

Wow the sound is different, i cannot get my head around it.

I cannot work out if i like it or not

TV sounds very clear almost all i can hear is voice

Lab 2 is hardly doing anything now

The look so different next to my Bvis 7-40.

    music sounds almost clinical

Ahhhhh Will i get used to the change in sound

    Seanie,

    Congrats, for now.

Take a look at this thread from Aussie Dave who has been having an ON/OFF relationship w/ his BL9's... might help.

Re: Got me some Beolab 9's

oh i really hope so to as this would be a very expensive lesson to learn.

i think i am feeling the same feeling that i had when i moved from a beovision 3 to a BV7 with a 7.4 which i found horrible at first.

I cannot decide if my lab 2 is even doing anything anymore, when i switch it off the lab 9's sound fuller and not to high pitched.

Give it a few days and im sure i will be ok.

the way to describe it is its like watching tv and everyone is miming.

that's exactly the opposite off how I feel when I hear the sound in 7.4. I think the sound in my bv8-40 is terrible compared to the 7.4Hmm

yeah i think i will give it some serious consideration by watching a film or two with it off and see if i feel anything is missing.

Re: Got me some Beolab 9's

Short and to the point from Anders - and correct, you don't need a Lab 2 any more.

The sound you'll get used to.  The 8000's sound warmer, and the bass from a Lab 2 is more.. not sure of the word to choose... lazy?

The BeoLab 9's are very quick with the bass, and will also loosen up a little over time.  The acoustic lens is always something to get used to, but you will - then 8000's will seem a little muffled in comparison.

Can you also put the 9's a little further apart?  Not sure if the room constrains you as i can't quite see..

Re: Got me some Beolab 9's

Yeah im starting to think that but will that mean i no longer have 5.1/7.1 or will it be the same?

i thought i would miss the rumble from the lab2 but i will work that out during the week.

if i do sell it then it helps re-fund my bank account lol.

yeah i think that is also what im missing the "lazy" rumble when listening to music

i do have some room to move them furter apart which i think i will give a try as they look odd in the same place i had the 8000's as they are half the size.

it is true though after moving the 8000's out of the way that they are truly the most lovely thing to look at

Re: Got me some Beolab 9's

i am getting quite used to the sound quick quickly after all of your help.

One thing i have noticed is that since i have moved the lab 8000's out of the way there is more sound coming from the center speaker and less from the front right and front left.

i have to be honest i think that i am going to really find it hard to part with the lab 8000's i might have to move them into my link room to be connected to my beocenter 9000.

So many speakers all over the place right now.

i did also think oh now i have my 7.1 setup lol

I am very excited this fine warm evening.

this month i have bought myself a pertol RC car, Upgraded from MK3 to MK4 Bv7 and Beolab 9's its becoming a bad habbit.

all i need now is my lintronic -238 to activate the projector and screen on the format 0 command but i think i need to stop.

I have the same setup as you - I turned off and then sold the BL2 after a year. It didn't really add anything to the BL9s and I managed to get £1000 for it :)

Hi Moxxy i thnk i will try that as i cannot really hear it anymore and i was worried at first that i would loose the "rumble" i will judge it over the next few days.

i think i would rather sell the lab 2 than the 8000's as i think i am quite attached to them since 2001

Re: Got me some Beolab 9's

I have BL 9's with a BV 10, and have programmed the system so when music source is selected, sound comes out of the 9's (ie. SPEAKER 2), but when video source is selected, sound only comes from the TV (ie. SPEAKER 1). Main reason is that the BL 9's are so clear and the soundstage so wide, it sounds very weird with them on during casual TV watching. Like I'm listening to an HD radio broadcast with video added-on! Only about 20% of the time do I switch it to SPEAKER 3, and that's usually for when watching movies or intense video gaming. Cool Also, another reason is that in SPEAKER 1, when the stand is rotated the soundstage rotates with it, perfect for when I'm working at my desk in the corner of the room.

Ok, yes Beolab 5 has that amazing character, but beolab 9 definitely doesn't. If people think that BL9 is a miniature BL5, they're going to be dissapointed. I am dissapointed everytime i take off my earphones and turn on the BL9's when i get home. BL9 has an unbalanced sound, the tone of this speakers is unnatural. Bl5 and 9 are chalk and cheese.

Perhaps a bit like beolab 3. I think something is missing in the midrrange, and a little too much treble.I have never heard beolab 9 in a properly setup room, just the stupid one meter in between speakers setup at a retailer...
