Beotalk 1200, normal operation or a fault?

I have just brought a second hand Beotalk 1200.  It came with an incorrect wire [:'(] but I eventually managed to get it to work with the help of other Beotalk posts on the forum.

Once powered up I performed a factory reset (+01234+) and then proceeded to set a answer message before calling the machine, letting it answer and then leaving a message.

All seems good so far and I get an indication of a missed call in the display.

If I now press news then the Beotalk plays the recorded message and does a kind of reset i.e. the screen completely blanks before displaying the time again.

If I try and cancel the recorded message whilst it is playing then the same happens.

If I try and replay the answer message it plays it and then the same reset occurs.

The reset is as if the answerphone does not have enough power to complete the task but I checked the PSU and it is the correct type (9v 0.3A)

The seller has told me that it came "tested from a B&O dealer" so I thought I would ask here before sending it back for a refund.

Has anyone ever had a Beotalk fail like this?

    Richard
