Master Control Panel 7700 advise - 3rd party option?

    Hello everybody,

Recently after an unfortunate fall my master control panel 7700 that I was using with my beocenter 7700 broke down and is completely dead. I've been searching the internet for a replacement control panel, but have been unable to find one under 120 euros which is a bit dear, especially since I only used it to control volume and switch between different functions (PH/TP2 which i use as aux).

Now my question is, is there a 3rd party option, or some way of programming a programmable remote to control these basic funtions?

Sorry if my question if matters like these have already been discussed on the forum, I tried searching but couldn't find anything like it. Thanks for reading and any help in advance!

    Jasper

The quick answer is yes. I did it via a Logitech Harmony by using the "LEARN" function. It works fine, but your source for the "LEARN" function is damaged!

I would recommend looking for one of THESE.

No 2-way functionality like your damaged MCP7700 -but you were apparently not using that anyway!

    Thanks for your quick reply.

Yes, I also found out that I could use a Beocenter terminal, but they also seem impossible to find (the closest I got after 2 hours was an ebay auction ending in May this year :S).

You rightly  noticed that the source is broken. Does anybody know if there would be a posibility to somehow program a remote without the MCP or terminal. After all it's just some IR signals so in theory it should be possible...

Get a learning remote then ask on these forums if someone would be prepared to program it for you. Of course you would have to send it to them.

If you want to store later remote signals (BL1000 etc..) pick a learning remote capable of 455khz.

The logitech Harmony One should work:

    See: this link

On the logitech website you can choose a remote and search for the supported devices.

    Best regards

According to the website the harmony supports the Beocenter 7700, so that's perfect. Also they start at only 30 euros. I think that'll be a bit easier then sending a remote back and forth for someone to program it, although that would've been the second best option. I'll get one and post my experiences with it here.

    Thanks for all your comments!

Yes, the Logitech Harmony is what I used.

It will cross the pre/post BL1000 code threshold with no issues.

While some of the setups I have tested did have the "GREEN CHECKMARK" seal of approval... I found them often to be either incomplete or misapproved. The problem is simply that not all of the codes may be in the database -this is where the "LEARN" component comes in.

For the basics though -should work fine with a basic config loaded.

I would still keep my eyes peeled for the original terminal.
