    Hi Mark

Di you have it connected to a main TV somewhere else in the house?

Is it posible that you have avtivated the timer function?

Have you got a set top box connected directly to it?

    Regards

    Re: mx4002 problem ?

Some years ago I heard of someone with a 21" MX television that had, I think Sky connected. He never used the aerial feed only the digital box. He suffered similar problem of the set intermitently switching to stand by. After much investigation, the problem was resolved with a software update on the tv.

Do you have an aerial feed that would enable you to temporarily disconnect the Virgin box to see if the problem persists?

I had this problem with a "threeview" box.It was noise from the box intermittantly sending a "play" signal to the tv via the Scart cable.

Use a good quality Scart cable anyway. You may need to ground the aerial cable if you are using a "booster" rf amplifier.

Scientific Atlanta cable tv boxes are haunted in my experience,if you have one of these, suspect it!The later Samsung boxes seem better?

    Re: mx4002 problem ?

had a similar problem with a panasonic sky box onto a 4002 eventually resolved it by going into box services - system setup and picture section in there switched off scart control switch - i have no card fitted so have to use the sky remote to control satellite reception - in france, with the set working on terrestrial french tv and satellite for english program reception

the above solved my phantom operation (usually 2 or 3am and a bit of a pain!)

    cheers

I always try to operate using/following the KISS principle --  Keep it simple stupid!

    Hi a11mcr,

we had the same problem in germany with a "premiere box ", my husband cut off

the pin 8 connector on the scart scable and all problems are solved. The Box switches on between 3 and 4 o' clock am and the mx switched  on.

see wikipedia for the pins off the scart cable

    hope this will help you

    Re: mx4002 problem ?

From the above experiences,it seems that the boxes switch on automatically during the early hours,I guess this is to download the channel guide and new software?

The one I had trouble with was random though!

The Mx seems to respond to a play signal or noise via the Scart cable (pin 8)I wonder if setting the tv input as decoder makes this more likely?

Certainly disabling Scart control in the digibox menu (if poss)would be good,or praps try another input mode for the telly?

    Regards,

    Nick
